Exhaust- 2-1/2" or 3" ? Who Here Runs Cats ?

I have a 74 Charger, 440, 10 to1, mild cam .488. and headers.  I am going to put a new exhaust system on this spring.
I'll be using an X-pipe, glass packs, and having it exit in front of the rear tires.  Should I go with 2-1/2" or 3" diameter pipes?  Why ?

I am also thinking of running catalytic converters right off the headers. Does anyone here run cats on their car?  From what I have read, they aren't that restrictive. And while I'm not one of those environmental nuts, I don't mind cleaning up my act a little.

Thanks, Randy

catalytic converters are a complete waste of money on our cars. all they do is cost more and choke the exhaust system. I remove them whenever possible, since its not illegal in ND. no emissions laws.

2.5" will be plenty big for your combination. unless you plan on making more power later, just stay with the cheaper 2.5"
