I have an extra 70 e body slap stick that I would like to put in my 69 charger and would like to know if anyone has done it and what it took to make it work. I can modify the handles so it still looks stock B body.

Yeah, they used to sell those on Ebay. I was gonna buy one and never got around to it an soon forget about them. That would be the way to go instead of modifying an E body shifter.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

I tried one of those shrift-R- gates when they first came out and after install it needed a lot of work as it made shifting a pain into any gear, notches were not smooth and cut to angular it took about 10 seconds just to play with it to get it in low gear on my full manual tranny. I will have to write him and see if he has fixed that problem.

Tom actually used me as his test mule for his reverse pattern one.

With my reverse manual VB I always had the tendancy to miss 2nd gear & go straight to third because I had to press the button to shift down from "D" to "2"

Now with his design I have a slap-stick style shift from 1-2 (just pull back, no button press) with a positive stop to 3rd gear.

2-3 requires a button press.....shifting back up to first requires no button press with a positive lock to first gear (no accidental neutral)

To address your original question, yes you can easily adapt a slap stick in a Charger. All you need is the slapstick shifter/related linkage, and modify or re-weld the mounting ears that mount the shifter mechanism.

As far as adapting a stock height (Charger) handle to the slap stick, I've never tried it as I simply cut down the stock unit to the same height as the slap stick, but I would think that you could do it with just a bit of engineering.

I had the similar issues. He sent me a refund.

Regarding installing a slap stick, it will bolt-in, but the geometry is a bit different. Bigger issue is the handle is shorter making for a very long reach.
