napa team penalized/crew chief thrown out

on wed. Micheal Waltrip's crew chief and team director were escorted out of daytona motor speedway for rules violation do to a substance found in his intake manifold in pre-qualifing inspection on 2/11. the substance ended up being a ingredient in jet fuel to up the octane of the fuel at high speeds. he was docked 100 points that will be assested at the end of the 500. the crew chief was fined $100,000 and was escorted from the track. he was paraded past the other teams in the garage to show them what will happen from now on. Waltrip will have to start a the back of his 150 in a back up car if it passes inspection.

also,  the crew chief and the team director were suspende indefinately!!!!!!!

Heard some other fines were also handed out for attempting to cheat.

that's a pretty deep hole MW is gonna have to dig himself out of. Even if he does make the race, he's not exactly a contender (not since his DEI days, anyway), and it is very likely he'll leave Daytona with negative points.

But Waltrip's profession of innocence has not gone unquestioned -- even by former teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr.

``There's a fine line there because when the driver is the owner he should have quite a bit of knowledge of what's going on,'' Earnhardt said. ``It makes me want to kind of believe Michael when he says he was unaware of it. As a driver, I would take that for what it's worth. But it's hard to imagine as an owner that you wouldn't know something about that.''

Read that Mikey's crew chief was fired. Mikey's bro DW was on Fox new tonight claiming his brother knew nuthin about the gogo juice. DW should be canned by Fox, all he does now is hump Toyota every chance he gets.
Best news is Jeremy Mayfield didn't make the big show, every race he continues to prove that he doesn't belong in the cup series.
