69' Charger rear valance question:

Hi you can tell that I am new to the hobby, but I'm curious to ask:

Why do some of the 69' Chargers have the two round circle reverse lights on their rear valance, and some do not? Are all of them "supposed" to have them?

I've noticed that some 68' Chargers and some of the General Lees' used on the TV show (as well as the 2005 Dukes movie) do not have them.

I have a basic 69' Charger (non R/T, 500, SE) and mine does not have them. Am I supposed to have them on mine?

I apologize for the dumb question, but I look forward to any responses.
Kind regards,
Aaron

all 69 & 70 chargers had the back up lamps in the rear valence , only the 68 didn't have them .. they were mounted in between the twin rear tail lamps  instead , one each side

Thank you for the reply,

Mine obviosly does not have them. When I bought it, the previous owner must have put another year on it (68?). Don't get me wrong, I'm all about restoring it correctly, but just for the sake of asking...do some 69' Charger restorers go without these? I'll most likely put the correct valance on, I was just curious to ask..
Thanks again,
Aaron

Thanks again for the reply!

I "definitely" want to restore mine correctly. But, if I can also ask...isn't it legally required to have these reverse lights put in? If not, then at least to get your Antique Tags we're supposed to have these on our 69' Chargers...?

Thanks again!

I for one would like to see where I am backing up into.  My car is worth too much to bump into something.  My opinion, I'd add them.

If your valance is good I would just cut the holes and install the lights. If you look in your trunk you should see the groumet where the wires go through the floor.

That was exactly what I was thinking. It wouldn't be any prob. to drill where we need to on the valance. It's in great shape, so, I certainly don't want to buy a whole new one.
