Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

We've only taken the Firebird up to 90.. Ever since we put the 3.73 rear gears in it the engine pings so we ar a bit nervous.. back when we had the 2.56 gear in it (now downstairs) it could have easily gone further than the speedo is capable to read... I really wish that there was a place around my neck of the woods where we could reach over 120 without endangering other people on the road..
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own. I resign. -Number 6, The Prisoner

Speedo said 145 in old Charger. Felt and handled like 55. I was pacing a Fairlane up to 120 and left him from there.
If your wheels ain't spinn'n you ain't got no traction.

Headin into Pittsburgh one day i buried the needle in my 94 Cherokee 4.0 5 speed. I figure that I was doing somewhere around 90 mph, and that will be the last time I ever do that!

In 74 I got busted on I10 between Milton and Crestview FL in a 69 HIME 4/sp Super Bee 202 mph in a 70.

150 mph in a 79 monza coupe with a 355 c.i.d.(no more gear) Approx. 170 mph on a Yamaha FZR 1000... Speedo reads 155 and it buried that about 9500 and I hit 10,500.

Summer eve in 1970...about 6pm, as my friend's 63 split window fulie vette pulls up next to us (after racing down from Mt Chaleston), on hwy 95 headed into vegas, I mash the pedal in my brand new 70 Lemon Twist 383, 4 spd Cuda (3.23 sure grip) & peg the speedo @150.  As the front end nods like a drunken sailor, all I worry about is the fiberglass belts separating in the F70 Polyglass tires.  Figure about 155, if the speedo was accurate.

Landonsrt

158 in a 98 vette. I was racing another vette and looked down and saw what i was doing. That car didnt like slowing down.
Got my SRT 4 up to 135 one night getting away from this guy that was trying to tailgate me for going around him when he was driving too slow. I decided to slow down once i reaized how fast i was going and the fact that I totalled out my R/T dakota two months before on the same road because of a deer.. That car still had some left in it. Didnt even feel like I was pushing it that hard!

sixty8charger

same stretch of HWY 95 up to vegas.. lots of straight road of nothing...  buried my "mean Streak" to about 135...  couldn't seem to get it pass that....  for such a heavy cruiser, i was very surprised that it got up to that speed! and fairly quickly also..(thank god for the windshield).. desert bugs hurt at that speed.   was pretty scarey though...  my fuel light came on... and there wasn't another station for about 40 miles!...  found one though.. so it was all good!

1984......73 Challenger 340, bias ply tires, two big guys in the front seats, three girls in the back. 130mph. I figured the girls would be pissed, but they kept chanting "faster, faster!"

I took my 1996 Cadillac Eldorado ETC out on a country road this summer and got it up to 120mph and it didn't even feel like it!! That 300hp 32 valve northstar has some kick :yesnod:

I've done 145 in the Blue Goose. Car had plenty more left. :2thumbs:

The acid from 74 is still with you bro, because that isnt possible.

At 150 the steering on one of these old cars is down right scary. Just the smallest amount of input get a huge reaction....Corvettes maybe OK but a 69 dodge dart is not..... :o

If you ever drive on the Dan Ryan expressway in Chicago the normal speed is about 100 to 120 mph those people drive crazy up there!! You better at least do 95 mph or you WILL get ran over.

202 mph ??  I don't think that's for real.   I was nervous when I took my GXS1300R "Busa" up to 194 that if I lost a tire or chain it would be over.   :yesnod:    Getting over 200 mph with a factory car back then would require some mods I would think and power due to wind pressure.   :shruggy:

Wow, some gutsy guys here.  :2thumbs:

I had my Green Charger up to 130 mph while in high school and riding on bias plys, with 3.91's in it no less. It felt like a brick forcing itself through the air. She didn't like it.

Had a 71 Challenger 383 with 2.94 rear that I got up to 130, but the front end started to float. Backed out, but it felt like it had a little more pedal.

Did the Richard Petty Driving Experience and got it up to 147. That was fun, but we were held back by all the traffic on the track.

I still have the desire to see how fast the Green Charger will go with the new engine rebuild and 3.54 Dana back in it. But, with kids, I'm leary of taking that chance anymore.

Looking for NOS parts for 69 Charger - whatcha got?

I plan to take the Eldorado out to this stretch of country road near my house this week and get it up to 150mph, because I don't have anything better to do. Plus it cleans out the engine  :icon_smile_big: I never see any cops out there either.
