~130mph (estimated) in a 1985 Chevy Sprint (aka Geo Metro).  Long story.

134 in my brother's NSX (really sticks to the road, it may have had more but a stop sign was coming up fast)

124 in my 3000gt (this was probably all it had, non-turbo)

got over 100 in my '74 Charger but it was scary (needed suspension work)

Isn't it amazing how these things stick in our brains...the first time I broke 100 I was 17, the whole family was piled in the 69 Skylark, we were going to Cape Kennedy and Mom and Dad dozed off wile I was driving. So I ran it up to 100 and set the cruise control. 1 hour later Mom woke up and screamed! Dad just told me to keep it under 80. After that nobody slept when I was driving. I've gone faster (and used the cruise) but that first one..... ::)

FJ5WING

I had the speedo needle past the last number right before the crunching began...didnt take too long to scrub the speed off when the roof is dragging on the road. ('bout 400 feet)

I havent been past 120 since..............................pretty sure I wont even see that again.....

all this talk about older = wiser is so true.
wingless now, but still around.

146 in my first 68 Charger daily on bias ply tires, 27 years ago!

167 in my 72 Duster with a 440 4 spd and 2.76 gears going to a drag race with the highway gears! A little scary but had an 8 point cage so felt safe!

I did 130 MPH in my 1990 corvette on the 135 on Long Island, New York.

My friend, who was a police officer, was sitting next to me so I knew I could beat the ticket/jail if I would have gotten pulled over.

180 on a Hayabusa. Tryed to go +190 but the road turned slightly ahead so i rolled of the trottle.
Sweden. Karlstad

144 in a 1971 AMC Ambassador. It was an old New York State police interceptor that had the 401 engine. Clocked by a good friend of mine that was a local cop. He said that it was the highest clocked speed that he had ever seen his radar.

I used to piss Dad off with that car. He had a 69 Newport Custom that had a 383 that really ran good, but it couldn't match the pickup speed of that 401.

I dont know how fast I was going, but on an armed robbery call I burried the needle in my crown vic.  It registered 140, but I know I was going faster than that.  Couldnt tell ya the true speed, but the car was shaking, and I was alittle on edge.  But I did get passed by another officer in his brand new Impala.  He said he was going almost 160.  So I am guessing 145-150 ish.

Crown Vic what a war horse! My Mom got her first one in 88...she's still pissed she can't get the Interceptor package you guys have! (This from the same gal who screamed cuz I was going 100mph!)  :2thumbs:

Tilar

She could "Should" have been able to buy the P71 Crown Vic up until either the 08 or 09 models. That is when Ford decided to not offer it other than through Fleet sales.

Well I was her "salesman" in 88 and I tried..."Grant Ford said no way"...but I did get her 5K off sticker...then quit over letting a Corvette owner actually go home and get her husband (another Corvette owner) to pick out his new Ford Festiva! (I took her out for a test drive and showed her it would get rubber in 4 gears and she was sold!) They came back 2 days after I quit and paid cash, the sales manager asked me to come back. Mom's on her 3rd Vic and will never look back...she roasted every other car she had...she beats the crap out of them!  :smilielol: I know she's buried the speedo on every one!

Tilar

My grandmother always had either the big Mercury's, LTD's or the Crown Vic's. The one she has now is an 86 Crown Vic that has just under 100k miles. I know she used to drive pretty fast but I don't know if she ever buried the speedometer. She renewed her drivers license on her 100th birthday a couple years ago but I don't think she's driven more than once since then.
