have you influenced anyone by owning a charger?  like a neighbor saw you had one, thought it was cool, and next thing you know he has gotten into the muscle car thing too?  a kid? a friend who saw yours and now he's full into the  hobby when otherwise would be stuck out on the golf course again on the weekend?                                  my bother  inherited my great uncles 49 ihc pickup. he was going to sell it. we were in my garage looking at my evil plans with mopar. i suggested he put a 454 in the thing. he kept looking around the place thinking. next thing you know, he built a full blown street rod out of it. infact he's built two, a '50 chevy delivery truck with a '02 454 auto   and now has about three other projects waiting in the wings.  and, yes i  created a monster, but feel pretty good about it, because he has had so much fun with it all.                                                      bruce

When the DOH were still on the air, I was dating a girl whose kid brother was a big fan of the show.  Needless to say, my having a 69 Charger at the time was about as great a thing as he could imagine.  Some years later I ran into their father and he told me that the kid had gotten into cars because of me and the old Dodge.  He had some kind of hopped up 5.0 Mustang but at least it was an American V8 rwd car.

Its nice when people give compliments when I drive mine. I dont care what import guys say. For all I know its much better that they dont have one, leaves more Chargers for real car enthusiasts.

My son fell in love with my 73 when he was 10 and now he had his mom buy him a 73 340 Rallye for me to restore.  :icon_smile_cool:

I've already had a couple of the Department of the Army Police officers at the main gate of Ft. Benning, GA tell me that they're looking for a nice old car to fix up after seeing mine.

My friend bought his cuda after helping me with my Challenger, after I have owned several Chargers, he went out and bought a 72 RR We both drove to VA to pick it up.  Maybe he will eventually get it right.  At least he is on the right brand!

I have influenced to around 4-5 Charger owners to get it in good conditions and I have done another several guys start the hunt for a Charger to own.

BUT I still have to fight  :argue: with them about WHAT IS A GOOD TASTE  :slap: to get the final good restored or overhauled Charger, and not just "fixed".

There is a guy that looks toward to "rice" his Charger  :nutkick: everytime I heard what he wants to do

I hope to influence my kids.  My daughter is 6 and my son is almost 3.  she likes the "red car" and says it's "too cool"  he is very funny, always asking me to go into the garage and follows me out there.  I am not expecting him to be a car nut like me, but I hope he's into it enough to at least learn the basics and not be held hostage by mechanics when his shit breaks some day.

My 10 year old has watched me restore my 73, he was only 7 when I started and I had a red line painted on the floor that he was not allowed to cross.
He always stayed out there even though I would'nt let him help me.
when he turned 9 I let him cross the line ( he was terrified) and now he really gets in there and helps on whatever I'm working.
He knows all tools and socket sizes.
We just got a 69rr and he keeps asking when we can start on it.
Was it an influence?
I hope so

Yes, my son. It may have been a bad influence though. 2 weekends ago he spent 4-5 hours drilling out spotwelds on a rear floor pan. He wasnt too thrilled. Yesterday he helped me dismantle and cut up a 72 parts car. By the time we were done (11 hours later) he was aching and hurting in places he hadn`t hurt before. After all that, I`m not sure he will be to excited  about working on the 72 I gave him a few weeks ago. Next weekend we will start working on his car. !st job is going to be pulling the heads off and replacing the timing chain.

Yes, my nephews.
Both are into Mopars now and love Chargers. I also turned them onto Dukes of Hazzard before they came back in popularity although I'm not a particular Duke fan myself. The older wants to get a Charger although he's only 16 now. Right now he drives a late 60's Olds Toronado and a same year ( I think) Caddy El Dorado which are at least not  imports. My Bro in law is into them.

most of my friends in high school.  I got my 73, then my best friend got a 70.  next thing you knew, there was another 73, a 71 dart, a 73 duster, and a valiant in the group.

This is my buddy Germ (jeremy is tough to say drunk) and his son parker.I met the germ in a junkyard when he was about 16. I was in a 54 buick robbing parts and he saw my mopar shirt. After striking up a conversation with me I told him of my 72 ' 340 duster I was workin on. He and another guy I met that day( redneck pete) followed me back to the house where I also had my 68 R/T. That was about 12 years ago, I can't take credit for his mopar habit (he already raced 4x4 dodge trucks),but I like to think I had a hand in it. Pictured is the 72 dart cloned into a 71 swinger 340. He put the 4 speed in it and the hump and 340. He put 3.55 gears in her and did all the body work. The new project is pictured as well. It's a 68 GTS dart 340 auto. It's come a long way since these photos. The moral of the story, some of the best people you'll ever meet in life are found in some of the dirtiest places life takes you. ;)
