So, my wife and I took the Charger into NYC this weekend - had a blast. We we're rolling down by Union Square on 14th street when this NYPD patrol car pulls up next to us... I was like "crap, what'd I do now... ", dude rolls down the window and yells, "LIGHT EM' UP!"... only in NYC I swear. We then told him that we wanted a place to take some good pics... they proceed to say, "just follow us"... so we follow, we roll back into Union Square (now keep in mind that Union Square Park is a no vehicle zone) - the cops proceed to put the lights on, stop traffic, get out of their patrol car and wave us in. People were looking at us like "what the hell is going on here?"... we then proceeded to pull into the park to take pics and BS with these 2 great officers for about 30 minutes... really, really nice guys...

I swear this car gets me out of and into more stuff... really is hilarious...

Cheers - Mike

Cool story, great shots & yeah...where's all the white crap? :icon_smile_tongue:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

The car won against the city. First off yes, I really did do a big smoke show on 14th street and honestly, I take it into NYC all the time - I grew up here so driving here is second nature to me, just have to be careful thats all. This car is put together VERY well - hell, back in October I did just under 5000 miles in 3 and half weeks - took the car ALL OVER the United States... had a great time doing it too.

Great story & cool pix.  :2thumbs:

I have been dying to make a trip to NYC for the last few months & might go this weekend to see the Harlem Globetrotters. Only difference is that I'll probably "NOT" be in a Mopar.  :D

DUDE!  I live on 14th between 2nd and 3rd!  Next time you come down, look a brother up!

I've gotta tell ya, I moved here from Indiana and I HATED cops until I moved here.  They have real crime to worry about here.  I was the only guy with long hair and a jacked up charger for miles where I grew up so therefore I was evil.  :D  Great story!  Great pics!

No they are not. They are Boyd Coddington Shrike wheels, 17" in the front and 18" in the rear. I only know because I want them for my car. But the rears I have found are $550-$600 a wheel. Here is his site.

Most all NYC Police are awesome.  Quick story, New Years Eve Times Square back in the mid/late 90's.  Crowd was well overwhelming of course and they would rush and push every 5 minutes or so, Brutal if you were near the front.  My then girlfriend was freaking out so when the next rush came, one of the Police lifted her over the barricade and that is where she got to watch the ball drop, right with about 10 officers.  Awesome.
Then it was fun to watch the Police beat people down that were beyond control, they would push the crowd out of the way and line up about 20 deep and that guy would be getting escorted to the curb to get thrown out.  You can imagine the thrashing he would take if he was lipping off coming out of there.  The Gauntlet is what I called it.
Those guys have my ultimate respect as well as all Police and Firefighters too.  They just don't get paid enough for the day to day hassle they put up with from idiots.

I have a question, did you have to do anthing special to get those rear 18" wheels to fit? I know your car is lowered 2 inches in the rear , but is that all you did? I tried to PM you, but it was full.

I was there for New Year's Eve '94/'95 with my girlfriend, now wife.  We had dinner at Spark's, then went up the Empire State Building with a small bottle of champagne around 10:00 PM.  We then made our way back to the hotel to put on some casual clothes for the trip to Times Square.

We were staying up near 57th St. and wanted to get closer to see the ball drop.  We spoke to the Officers that had the sidewalks closed but the street open to pedestrians and he said to make our way along the side walk.  Each intersection, you'll encounter an Officer, tell them that Captain / Sergeant So & So said it was OK to let you through.  We made it almost all the way down to the stage area as the ball was dropping.  We had a great time but when the first empty bottle of champagne went flying over head, we knew it was time to leave.

Here's to all the cops!
