The crash shot was taken at Milwaukee by Russ Lake.  It's the 1970 Governors Cup 250 USAC race.    That is one crash you would remember.   Look how much movement of the driver's upper torso inside the car!

This is a good example of how strong these cars were, to be able to take a lick like that and be repaired to race again in 1971 and 1972.

2nd picture is interesting, that is probably the Bay Darnell car I own behind the Tovella Superbird.  First underhood shot I've seen of the car.  Ken Rowley supposedly bought a Tovella car in the winter of 74-75, he probably bought the bird.  He isn't sure what happened to it unfortunately.

Good chance this car is Sal's old Superbird, taken in 1973.  Look how much narrower the rocker panels are compared to the rear wheel opening.   That is a sign of a 1971 Charger body going over the old 68-70 platform.  The 71 body is wider.

Sal's car, another hard lick to the wall in 1973.   The straight passenger door bars visible in the photo are a sign of an older car.   New build cars started getting curved crush style bars in the early 70's.
