I just had my Steering pump rebuilt and now my steering box is leaking.
Is the leak at the steering box a result of the rebuilding of the pump?
Is there any product I can put into the system to stop the leak at the steering box?
What is the best way to stop the leak?
Thanks for your responces!

First off, are we talking classic Charger here?

Either way though, IMO you should do it right and have the box rebuilt too. What probably happened is the rebuilt pump has increased the pressure to the box and now the old seals are leaking. I wouldn't use the band-aid approach of trying to find some additive or shortcut to patch it up if that's what you're asking. Those kinds of things are fine if it's 110-degrees and 237 miles to the next town to get help but if the car's sitting in your garage and you can't decide between watching American Idol and pulling the steering box out of your Charger I'd just keep adding fluid until you can do it right.

Take it out and have it repaired. That stop leak stuff isn't good.I used the stop leak for radiators once, about a year later I pulled the engine to rebuild and the quech ports ,normally the size of a nckle were about the size of a pencil eraser. The stuff doesn't know the difference, what's it do?Plugs a leak, hole. What are your passages? If you cut your motor in half what do the passages look like, holes.Just my two cents.I try to stay away from all the miracle in a can stuff.
God must love stupid people....he made a sh**load of 'em....

I agree with both of You,, Thank you for the good advise. I will bring it to the local mechanic and have it rebuilt.
What do you think a fair price would be for me to pay and are / or is their only one way it can be rebuilt?
Do I need to give the mechanic any specifics on how to rebuilt it?
Thanks again!

Depends on where its leaking from.  If its the output shaft for the pittman arm than the box should come out for the repair.  If its the imput shaft where the steering column attaches its not too bad a job to do with the box in the car.  Of course a small block is easier than a big block and a car with headers can also restrict access.   They sell the complete rebuild kits at most auto parts store.  Usually around 35 bucks.  My approach is when the box is out of the car for resto it gets completely rebuilt but if you just have a driver that aquired a leak then r&r the seals at the leak.  The Dodge charger/coronet manual gives detailed instructions on the overhaul.
