need to know what the part number for a 69 bumper jack is so i dont get the wrong one. thanks!

UFO

69 parts book lists it as "bar and base pkg-2932519".I would use the visual approach. There are unique to the charger line. There are some questions whether to use a tube style or T style(main column).Probably had something to do with plant or supplier.

68-70 used the same (visually) jack.   Some say the 68 is unique but I never noticed a difference.

All had a solid, triangular post with a non-removeable hook or pad on the mechanism.

The 68 Charger Jack was superior   :yesnod: :yesnod: do to the fact is was the first 2nd gen jack made.

I think the progression goes something more like:

68 - the practice run
69 - they got it right
70 - they went overboard and ruined a good thing

Oh, and here's a different perspective on the "best" jack model of the three years:

Interestingly enough, the jack in a 69 New Yorker is similar.  The base and post are the same as is the tire iron.  The mechanism on the New Yorker doesn't have the flat L-shaped part that goes under the bumper but the rest is the same.  considering what they are charging for a jack now, I wonder if you could make a Charger jack from another model jack.  I certainly wouldn't want to use it for jacking up a care but it would give folks something to put in the trunk for show.  The posts are silver.  Base and jack mechanism are gray.  Just a crazy idea.

The mechanism/flat pad is what makes the Charger jack unique & made of "unobtanium"

:iagree:  100%,  Absolutely correct for 69 & 70 the rust is a dead giveaway, thanks for the pic

Hey Dan, wouldn't there be at least one more year's worth of rust on a '68?  Need to keep those pics on file to show you what the color of your jack should be since rust covers up all the '68 originals??
