Question - check out this listing:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=320079629357&rd=1,1
the guy claims tic toc tach but it's not.  I thought they came standard on R/Ts.  Can anybody confirm?  Not sure if this car is the real thing - no indication of matching VIN on radiator support or trunk lip.  Any educated opinions out there?
thanks

Troy

The tach was not standard on R/Ts - it was optional on all models.

As for this car, I can't see the pictures right now but the ad does say it has the tach in two different places. It's a common mistake by people who really don't know much about the car but read something somewhere...

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

the tic tock tach was option even on the R/T in 69 . i though that when  i read his ad the other day , his got the tic toc bit right :yesnod:

I agree....the TTT was optional on the Charger R/T.

The Coronet R/T recieved the TTT standard when the optional A62 Rallye Dash was ordered.

Most scams don't show a lic. plate or all of the VIN.  But that is a very nice car.  I think the guy just made a mistake in the ad.  I've seen that several times people say tic toc tac but it's just the clock.

Like everyone is saying, the N85 Tach was not standard equipment on a '69 Charger, but it was not uncommon on the HP models such as R/T, 500 or Daytona.

You're right though, the car does not have the tach - it just has the standard-equipment clock, despite what it says in the ad.  I went through the whole ad and did not see a picture of the fender tag (I really hate dialup!  :flame: ), since that would say for certain whether it had the tach originally - of course the broadcast sheet would tell that tale also.

497 pictures, and not 1 of the fender tag. :rotz:

Like Troy said, people that don't know these cars very well think the clock looks like a tach, which I can see happening, but not when selling a car.

So far I see a very nice car for the $36K it's bid so far...  I've seen worse cars for lots more $.    I'm pretty sure it'll go for more than that by the time it's over.

I sent the seller a  blurb about it being a clock and not a tach.  I actually want to see if he responds. I of course was in no way rude and told the seller it was a beautiful car and such. Of course I hid my email address in case it's a scam for information or something.

Those pictures shut down my computer trying to download.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

terrible one

I see lots of Ebay ads for Chargers that say it has a tic-toc-tac when it's just the normal clock. I think that most people mistake the outer second-hand ring for the tachometer portion.

dpm68

Yea, it took a bit for my mac to choke down all those shots...and geez, that sure ain't a TTT, but as mentioned by all, it's a common mistake. Tach? what's a tach?...I've actually heard that. Nice ride indeed, but something's funny about the pcv - it sure looks incorrect and it seems like it's trying to pop its way out...and the air cleaner...I thought they were done in gator-finish black, and not chrome (or stainless as it may be) izzat so?

GTX

That's a pretty sweet Charger. Would have been nice to see some documentation on the car, especially for that money. I wonder if the buyer looked it over beforehand and got info before bidding?

Out of all of the Chargers or any Mopars I've had only the '70 GTX and one Charger R/T came with the TTT.

Wait????  Your tach needle doesnt do a 360 all the way around if you rev it up high enough?   Just kidding. :P

some interesting things i noticed were the lack of headrests on a '69, red hood vent decals. missing interior finish panel for the tailights and one badly yellowed guage...

What a great car though..!

There's a multitude of nit picky crap that's "wrong" with it but it's a very nice car for $42K considering.    I don't even really like factory correct cars for the most part *with many exceptions  :icon_smile_big: .

Valve covers on wrong sides.
Heater hoses routed wrong.
Wipers don't park - black painted wiper motor.
The list goes on...  SO WHAT?
