Even if I don't think they exist, you must tell us your story C-stripes.   :yesnod:

Well, the worst experience was when I lived in Idaho. I was living in a house that had a reputation of being a drug house and I was a not so good person at the time. I decided that I wanted to clean up and started reading scriptures every morning and night. I was really feeling good. I felt like I believed in something again, so much so that I quit smoking, drinking, and all of the other stuff. I felt I was well on my way to cleaning up. One night I was in the house in my room and no one else was there. I was on my knees reading the scriptures and doing just fine when my door knob started shaking. I figured it must just be Colby playing a joke and I opened the door and no one was there, I thought it was weird but continued to read. Then it started again, I grabbed the knob as it was shaking and opened the door and there was nothing there. Then I got this ..... very unwelcoming dark feeling. I jumped in my bed, the door started doing it again and something else grabbed my arm and through it against the door just as it flung open. My arm hitting the door slammed it back shut. I sit there and prayed that it would go away and it did, but it scared the hell out of me. I have never been able to read the holy writ faithfully since as I am afraid that the demon will come back. I was not on drugs or anything at this time and there was NO explanation of what could have caused it. It wasn't windy or anything. Coincidentally, last year I had the same feeling, just not as strong. The next morning I got a call from Colby telling me that the house had burnt down.

I will swear on my life that everything I just told you is 100% true. I even spoke with a counselor and a religious leader about it because it had been bothering me so much.

If you don't want to believe, that's fine, don't. Criticize the story but please respect God and my religion and don't make and religious or God remarks.

Also, we have a house in the family that has been since it was built in the late 1800's. In the 80's, my aunt still lived there but was starting to go crazy. She had "guests" all the time. Some of my family even have recordings. Anyone that has ever lived in the house or been in it for very long at all have felt, seen, or heard something. I lived there as a child for a little wile, I don't remember it. But my Dad has a few stories. They had a cookoo clock that would wind itself. My Dad was walking down the stairs and someone called his name. It was so vivid that he answered back and then realized that there was no one else up there. My Aunt Telsy was looking for a national geographic one day and heard Lila (the old aunt) talking to a guy, Telsy even heard the guy. Then realized that she hadn't heard the door shut and got up to walk out and saw Lila looking up (she was sitting down) like she was talking to a guy and then she turned to Telsy and asked if she found what she needed. There were always things going on in that house. I have some relatives that will not go in the house even still and Lila passed in the early 90's. Since then there has been very little paranormal stuff in there. I have had other things too. But this is enough for now.

Just because I don't believe, it is no reason for anyone to not post any stories.  Thank's for sharing C.   This is what this thread is about so if you have more please tell.   :2thumbs:   It is interesting and the unknown is why people watch these shows and read these stories.

While not sure about ghosts.  I will say this 3 years ago, 11:07 at night my microwave started :scratchchin: :o, realize it was just me in the house and I was at the other end of the house in bed. :shruggy:

When out turned it off.   Needless to say the NEXT day I got a new one...... :2thumbs:

Oh heck yes, I really love the website Prairieghosts.com lots of awesome stories there,  when I was in my teens I used to sleep over at my best friends house, he was always telling me stories about weird stuff going on in the house, it was built in the 1800's originally an adobe house, well one morning about 5:00am I woke up to the sound of foot steps above me, my bedroom was in the basement so I know what that sounds like, there was something or someone walking back and forth across the attic floor, I sat there and listened to this for twenty minutes, back and forth like pacing from one side of the attic to the other, I look over and my buddy is staring at me smiling, I guess justification that he wasn't full of crap, but then it just quit, he told me that sometimes there was voices along with the footsteps, I didn't hear anything that day, but it definitely freaked me out, we went out and looked at the attic door and it was padlocked and the ladder that you have to use to get up there was laying on the ground with weeds growing through it, so we knew that it had not been used for a couple of years, needless to say I didn't sleep over there again.

The wife and I have been watching Ghost Hunters for the past 3 years, and we love that show. Sometimes they find stuff, sometimes they don't. They always go into an investigation trying to de-bunked the persons claims of activity. And they have caught some amazing footage on camera. They seem like honest, straight shooters when it comes to this. Most of the time they are able to prove a place is not haunted, but it is the times where they actually find something that makes the show worth watching. The light house in Florida was one of the best episodes they have ever had. They find some real creepy stuff. So, to make a long story longer, yes I believe that show is totally real, without a doubt.

Ghost Hunters Rule. :boogie:

I agree 100%, I've watched GH since the first episode.

I just got to say I hate that damn show. My wife watches it every week for like 4 hours...Dammit they never find anything. They just roll around in the dark and say it could possibly be haunted.I have never seen without a doupt proof on that show of any thing. I think it's all staged.

Then you're not really watching.  Yes there are some episodes where they de-bunk a supposed haunted area, but most of the time they do find something.  Whether it's audio or video.

I agree with you 100% on what you just said there myself. I like the show also.. but I also notice that has the series goes on they find more and more stuff from what they did in the early part of the series.

While I can't say I believe everything that happens on GH (The whole halloween live fiasco with Grants hoodie); I can say I do believe in the paranormal. At the risk of bieng ridiculed I grew up in a "Haunted" house. Over the years there were many things that happened that are definately unexplainable. Furniture moving in plain sight, disembodied voices, objects moving, human shaped shadows moving accross the room when no one is there to cast it, and seeing human figures moving thru the house.

If I had not grown up in that house I would think ghost stories are complete B.S. as well. I am used to non believers making fun of me or thinking I am feeding them a line. The most frustrating part is when they try to say it was wind, lights from passing cars, a radio, etc..    It is very frustrating when they do that like I am some sort of idiot. The things my family has witnessed are situations where it is not even questionable that something F*&#'D up just happened.

Case in point:  When my wife and I were first dating she came with me to my parents house one weekend. She had heard all of my ghost stories and had figured I was full of it or couldnt figure out how to comprehend natural occurrances (Remember im an idiot apparantly to non believers). Since we were just dating we stayed in seperate rooms. She thought it was hysterical that a 22 year old man sleeps with his bedroom door wide open and the hall light on. Which I only do at my parents house, for very good reason. I asked if she wanted me to leave a light on in her room or leave her door open. She laughed and said I was bieng silly. About two hours after we went to bed she came running into my room and dived under the covers and wrapped her arms around me tight. She says she heard her bedroom door open and close. Then she could hear someone behind her. She said my name thinking it was me. When she got no response she turned around and said she saw a figure of a man, and he was leaning down toward her. The room was dark so she couldnt make him out completely and since she thought it was me she reached out to grab him. Well apparantly she reached straight thru him and that freaked her out and then she ran straight thru him to get to the door and out the room. To this day if you ask her if she believes in ghosts and is my parents house haunted she answers with a definate YES!!!        I am glad she had an experience so now I don't have to be ridiculed by her like I used to be.

LoneStar Mopar

Like C_Stripes said, when you have a genuine experience it definately has a huge affect on you and usually in a very negative way. This is especially true when it happens in your own home and on multiple occassions. It leaves you confused, scared, and frustrated. Confused because it changes your reality as you know it. For everyone that thinks people like me are full of it and can make light of paranormal experiences I truly envy. I would give alot to not have had many of my expereinces and still have my original reality of the world intact.

Sorry if I am coming accross as overly serious or even as a jerk. This is just a part of my life that I try not to give much thought to anymore and I sometimes have a hard time explaining it to other people.

Case in point:  When my wife and I were first dating she came with me to my parents house one weekend. Since we were just dating we stayed in seperate rooms. About two hours after we went to bed she came running into my room and dived under the covers and wrapped her arms around me tight. NICE MOVE ON THIS ONE!  I APPLAUD YOU AND YOUR PLAN APPEARS TO HAVE WORKED.

UMMMM, YOUR DAD IS A PERVERT!

I am glad she had an experience so now I don't have to be ridiculed by her like I used to be. SHE USED TO MAKE FUN OF YOU AND YOU STILL MARRIED HER?? NOW I THINK YOU'RE AN IDIOT.

All in fun, I meant nothing, just saw the opp to make light of some things and acted.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

LoneStar Mopar

mikepmcs, I understand you meant nothing by your response, I took no offense. However it is responses like that by people that I know in person which is why I rarely tell people anything about this. On here it is easier to talk about because in all likely hood I will not ever meet most of you in real life. I understand that I may come accross as slow, superstitious, or even misinformed when I say that I believe in the paranormal. Hell for all I know I might be.

To defend my wife in the last segment of my post; she didn't ridicule me as much as she thought I was bieng silly for believing in anything supernatural. If she were mean spirited I definately would not have married her.

Lonestar, maybe someday he will get the pleasure, then we will see who is laughing. Some experiences there is no way that it could be shadows from light outside, or your imagination. When you grab a door knob that is shaking and open the door and there is nothing there, I guess it must have been a door know earthquake. There are some things that happen and there is only one explanation. Someone else was there. Weather it was a demon, disembodied spirit, or a time warp something or another. Something was there. Mike, I don't mean this in a bad way at all. But I hope that you can have an experience. It will open your eyes.

C_Stripes, It is definately hard to get someone who is a staunch non believer to take you seriously. I think it is funny that people who weren't there think they can tell you what you saw, heard, or felt. I am as level headed as they come. I don't exagerate my experiences or make stuff up; and it doesn't sound like you do either (As you propably know it is easy to tell a BS story from a real experience when you have had an experience). The only thing people like us can do is tell about our experiences and let the person who hears it draw their own conclusions.     Heck maybe there is an easy explanation why my bed has slid halfway accross my bedroom (while I was laying in it AWAKE, not moving), while at the same time I hear a man yell out "sh$t" very loudly, then my lamp on my night stand flies accross the room. All within a 5 second time frame. The window was closed so it must have been the wind from the AC in the house? I have had at least 6 or 8 other just as extremely bizarre experiences in my parents house and numerous lesser experiences while growing up. Thanks for the support C_Stripes.

I have watched the Ghost Hunter show a time or two...I thought it was kinda hokey, but ya'll's stories are scaring the hell outta me!   :icon_smile_big:

tricky lugnuts

I believe ghosts can be big business... at least here in Marietta, OH - the oldest city in Ohio, nestled along the banks of the Ohio River.

I live on the third floor of an old brick building on the Ohio River, built in 1826. It's a former whorehouse (La Belle Hotel) that has been the site of several murders over the last 150 years, some of them quite gruesome.

I've lived there for about a year now. Though the building is known locally to be haunted, I haven't experienced anything. Not to discount the experiences of other people who have already posted here, but sometimes I think rumors of "hauntings" tend to build on themselves over the years and have a hard time going away after they become established as "fact."

The "fact" is, people like ghost stories. Always have, probably always will.

Case in point, a local woman does ghost tours of Marietta, charging people $10 each for the tour.

Every Friday/Saturday night I see her out front on the Ohio River Levee, telling a group of 10-20 people about the old murders and how the place where I live is haunted. Not that she ever identifies me as a resident of the building when I walk by and she nods hello, even as she's telling people how the residents today still hear/see/smell weird things. Strikes me as... well, BS.

Like all the people who take pictures and see "orbs." Oh my god! What a haunting! The place is infested with... dust particles? The world's already weird enough, even without ghosts, in my opinion.

bearbqd

Darn right I believe. I grew up in a haunted house and things still happen there now and then. I have seen slaves there (property is over plantation area and civil war campsites), demons, and things immitating me, my sister, and mother's voices. I have also had many run ins with the demonic in other places. Am I more sensitive than others? Not sure, but I've had my fair share of experiences. Being a Christian, I also used to believe, like others here, that all ghosts were demons immitating people. After almost 40 years of experiences and reading and watching everything I can on the subject, I'm not so sure anymore. It seems that some people are just not ready to move on. This seems to be the case quite often when their death was very traumatic or violent. It also seems to be the case with a lot of deceased old folks who just don't want to leave their home of 40 or 50 plus years. The Bible surely does not rule out ghosts either as 1 Samuel 28 speaks of how Saul went to the witch of Endor to summon Samuel. When she did so Samuel the spirit asked of Saul " Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?"

A lot of these types are both active and residual haunts. Active haunts can interact with the environment and are conscious of their surroundings. Residual haunts tend to have things that happen exactly the same everytime you see or hear them. An example would be the same type of footsteps being heard on a staircase, or some scene being played out like a movie over and over.

Don't know what to tell the non believers here. I'm not here to make you believe anything, just to tell you that I have experienced many, many things; as has the rest of my family.

Absolute BS! But hey, they are making money(ie ratings) because of all the people that want to believe this stuff can really happen.  Hell, I've even tuned in once or twice but ended up having to turn it off because it was crap.

Why is it crap? Because YOU don't believe in something doesn't mean it isn't real. They have actually come up with some incredible evidence on some of their shows. I guess you think every bit of it is contrived. Too bad for you to have such a closed mind. You think we just die and turn to dust? Our physical bodies yes, but God designed us with a spirit so YES, we definitely go on. I guess all of you non believers assume the rest of us that have experienced things have a few screws loose. HA... I say why don't you wake up in the middle of the night to see a demon staring you in the face, or seeing not once, but twice, the same black man slave in our house smoking a pipe and being able to smell cherry tobacco afterwards. Or seeing the looks on your parents faces as you hear someone jumping on your bed upstairs and then see a slave black boy run across the hall. Or how about when your friendly soccer game is interupted in the back yard by the appearance of a strange, overweight, black woman in a nightgown watching you through the back sliding glass doors. (Multiple witnesses there). How about photographing a demon "posing" for the camera at a friends house down the road. (Didn't know it was there until we developed the film). Or how about your dog reacting first to a demon in the living room and freaking out, only to later have him freak out over the same spot later that evening after telling your non-believing parents what you had seen earlier. I could go on and on for hours of encounters, but like I said, I'm not here to convince the unbelieving. It's just sad to see such closed minds.

I'm pretty open minded when it comes to these things. I've never personaly experienced anything paranormal but I have several family members who had.

The weirdest story I have is when my brother and I went fishing at a near by river. It was back in the mid 80's during the summer that we decided to go fishing.........at 11:00 pm :scratchchin: My brother drove his '77 Dodge van (start playing that '70's disco music!) that night. The fishing hole was located under a concrete bridge a few miles from the house and we had been there several times before. To get to the river you had to turn off the road just before the bridge and drive down a steep two path road.

We fished for an hour so when we started to hear what sounded like a large cardboard box being rolled end over end on top the bridge.....thump.....thump.......thump. A big box, like what a washing maching would come in. We looked up but could'nt see anything but the stars and the outline of the bridge. My brother boasted that 'he has a gun and would use it' or something to that effect. Needless to say we were spooked and got the hell out of there a few minutes later (the fishing sucked anyway that night). We jumped into the van and climbed the step access road all the while looking for anything wierd. We pulled out onto the road and looked down the bridge......nothing. No box, no homeless guy.....nothing. :scratchchin:

Could that have been explained? Maybe. But we couldn't come with anything......even after all these years.
