Correct routing of turn signal wires?

On a 70 with hood-mounted turn signals, where do the wires for the lamps run?  Through the hood, attached with clips, how does having underhood insulation affect the routing? Pics?

Thanks!

Hi MS, on mine ('68) the wire goes in through the hole below the turn signal, and along inside the hollow member, and out by the back edge of the hood. If that doesn't help, I'll grab a picture. Wait.. I may have one on the pootah.. hang on.
I'd rather push a Charger than drive a Mustang.. which is lucky..

Here we go, mine had the insulation, but it's missing now. The wires come out of the round hole I've arrowed in the pic.

So, to clarify, on mine the wires go into the hood past the small patch of rust, along inside the rusty bit, out of the hood by the big rust patch, in through the big rusty thing under the windscreen surrounded by rusty bits. Hope this helps. :icon_smile_wink:

First thing I think of when looking at that is, "how the heck am I going to route that through there?"  Any suggestions?

wire tape or a coat hanger, strong safety/mechanics wire.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

MadScientist

Its going to be a royal mess unless I can do it with the hood insulation pad in place (but I doubt it).  Yeah, I figured Id have to use fish tape or something.

You can tape fish? Cool..

How about a welding rod?

The hood pad shouldn't have any effect, top hole is above it, bottom hole is below it.. Should be fine.

use the inside cable of a old speedometer cable, thread it through then ,tape the wire to the end & pull it back through
