I know Moparts is viewed as a "mecca" for many but I've found it's just too big and busy. Several times I've posted questions for help there and they were quickly "buried" by other posts and no one answered them.

Parts section was OK but I never bought anything.

I  ALWAYS have gotten help on this site, other favorites are 70 registry, 3rd gen board and scatpack

....Just felt like sharing  :icon_smile_big:

I haven't posted there yet. :icon_smile_tongue:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

You're right about the speed at which things get buried, especially if it isn't a "hot topic" with the members there. I've had some good luck with tech questions since not all questions are Charger related. Recently, the truck forum was really fast at answering what I needed. The classified has been good to me for both buying & selling. I sold a ton of NOS trim & lenses for a 1970 GTX years ago, & I found my 1970 Road Runner there that I bought.

With any site I think, there is a certain "personality" that it develops based on the group that's there. One thing that does seem to make a slight difference is the heavy censorship on Moparts. That has it's good points as well as bad. They try to keep it kid friendly at all costs, but for me it's like hanging out with my friends. A few 4 letter words will come out & some topics are inevitable, but to constantly be on your guard so you don't say something off color in front of young kids gets old.

I know how I am around my 7 year old daughter & how I am having a beer with my friends. The language & topics are a lot different. Not better or worse, just different.

Moparts has it's cliques just like this site does.   You're either in or out.

That's hard to believe.  :-*

:iagree: I'll bet CF is even on Tuner sites posting.  ;)

I agree with you too Bill. The prices they want for some stuff when they sell it too, reminds me of some of the over priced stuff you find on Ebay.

I agree, I don't like the censorship on that site, there are tons of posts and whole threads either being deleted or locked. I actually don't have a charger YET but the next mopar I buy will be a charger, but I still post on here and people don't seem to mind. I get better answers here than I do on moparts. I'm on a budget and the sugestions I get for certain things on moparts are all way out of price range, here it seems like since its a smaller number of people they remember that I'm on a budget and give me answers accordingly. Also the moparts cliques and inside joke things get annoying after a while, but thats not say there aren't cliques here but I would say its not as bad here.

bull

I'm ok with the site but I rarely go there. Like you said, I'll sometimes post a question and go back two hours later to find it on page five with no responses or just one wisecrack. It's funny that I get more productive responses here where there is way fewer people. The last question I asked there was about those air bubble car covers. Only one guy responded with a wisecrack, I responded with an abnormally (for me) polite rebuttal and then an hour later it was buried and some mod had deleted both responses. It really is a joke when it comes to freedom of speech over there. I guess as long as you act like a Vulcan there they'll leave you alone.

cliques... we dont need no stinkin cliques!

where is there a clique on this board :D  actually, the kansas mafia I guess is a clique... but its because no one else wants to move to kansas! LOL

other cliques i think are more geographically based than anything.

I used to post on there a ton. Then we got the new site here, and it has an aero part so I stick to this one mainly now. Not really a need for me to post over there.

PocketThunder

I like the street rod section.  They have a couple good projects going on over there.  And i bought my wheels for my 68 from Moparts member "bigdad" and he is a regular guy like us

Well cliques will always develop but here everyone always gets a respectful response (unless they say they have a '72 440+6 Charger in a garage)

I like it over at Moparts. All business attitude. Both this site and Moparts has their little cliques.I guess some people have to Brown Nose with the right people to feel important ( Don't people ever leave High School?).I like the forums and they are strict about posting but at least I don't have
hear about someone's new Toyota or problems with their S10.There is enough sites out there for that stuff. There is some good things on the classifieds but price wise it is buyer beware same as here.

Moparts has to keep a tighter leash because they have a ton of members/traffic going through there.
Think of it in terms of this country.  When it was smaller, the gov't did not keep as tight a leash on things, people tended to police each other.   as we grew, more and more retards tried to ruin it for all the rest of us so the gov't felt the need to crack down more on what we say/do because society was not doing that anymore.

By virtue of it's size and popularity, you can get a ton of tech info there.  I may be wrong, but it seems that you get more hardcore tech over there than here.  I find that if I have a go fast question, you will get more responses there.  But for charger only info, specifically what's correct for restorations or what new charger stuff is available, then this is the place to be.  also if you want to relax and just BS with your online buddys, this is the place to be.  don't get me wrong, you get great tech here, specifically from Chryco Psycho and Firefighter, but you will get a bigger volume of answers at moparts.....  and sometimes when you have a question about a part you want, you may need opinions of as many users of that part and not the technical understanding of the part that Neil or Ron may give you.

They both have their place.  I used to post at moparchat only way back when, I was sort of sheltered and I really did not think that there were any other chat rooms.  I got banned from there for a few weeks and that's when I found this place and started posting at moparts...

My experience on moparts is that there is always someone waiting to jump on you to tell you what a tool you are. Did get involved in a sparring match with a real dipstick there (who has since been given his walking papers there)... seems as though there are folks who just exist there to stir the pot. This is a much frienlier and more helpful board, and being smaller doesn't hurt at all. I'm still a member there, but post a lot less than I used to.

The posts are buried way too quick over there.  I can never find anything, even if im only gone for a day, its buried so deep its usually not even worth digging for it.  I bought something from one member over there.  I never got the parts, had to file a paypal claim to get my money back.   :rotz:
