meaning of "CUSTOM" emblem on 72 Charger ??

WONDERING IF ANYONE OUT THERE KNOWS WHAT/IF ANY SIGNIFICANCE THIS EMBLEM HAS?  IT MEASURES ABOUT 3/4 INCH BY 3 AND  1/2 INCHES IN LENGTH AND WAS REMOVED FROM BEHIND THE QUARTER WINDOW, WHERE THE ROOFLINE COMES TOGETHER WITH THE QUARTER PANEL AND HAD A CHARGER EMBLEM NEXT TO IT.  THANKS FOR ANY INFO

I don't think it came on it. Sounds like a coronet "custom" emblem?

WITH FURTHER INVESTIGATION:  IT IS A CHRYSLER EMBLEM, HAS THE PENTASTAR AND A COUPLE SERIES OF NUMBERS STAMPED ON THE BACK.  THE STUD HOLES DONT LINE UP AND IT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN GLUED OR STUCK ON SOMEHOW.  I AM FAIRLY CERTAIN THAT WHOEVER  PUT IT ON PROBABLY DID SO AT THE SAME TIME THEY PAINTED THE BOTTOM OF THE FRONT DOOR PANELS A LOVELY, FAR-OUT IN THE 70's, AVACADO GREEN.  WHICH WITH THE TAN TOP, WOODGRAIN MIDDLE AND AVACADO BOTTOM WAS JUST WHAT THAT SMOKED UP DUDE WAS GOING FOR WHEN HE "CUSTOMIZED" IT.  LOOKS ALOT BETTER ALL BLACK WITH THE WOODGRAIN LEFT FOR A BREAKUP OF THE BLACK.   MYSTERY SOMEWHAT SOLVED THANKS GUYS. TALK TO YA SOON.

Hemi do i really have to explain myself  :rotz:

nakita7 says "No such thing from Chrysler"

i remember seeing a fury with custom lettering  i.e. Chrysler

so i preceded to say "I beg to differ" and post a picture of said fury

i did this for two reasons

first to show that Chrysler indeed offered a model that featured the word "CUSTOM"

second to offer my best guess as to where said emblem may have come from as it was not offered as an option on chargers in 1972 or any any year charger to my knowledge 

hope that clears things up

i have a 73 newport "custom"
