Actually it's the next town over but close enough.

By Mara Stine

The Gresham Outlook Feb 3, 2007

Two local men allegedly pulled teeth from a decomposing body, removed the fillings and sold the gold at a pawnshop for $66.

And they allegedly videotaped the extractions.

Gresham police on Sunday, Jan. 28, recovered severely decomposed human remains in a transient camp in the 2700 block of West Powell Boulevard just east of West Powell Loop Drive. The body has been identified as Ronald Ferber, 56, who lived in Gresham before becoming a transient, said Sgt. Teddi Anderson, a Gresham police spokeswoman. Medical examiners also determined that he committed suicide.

Acting on an informant's tip, Gresham police arrested Alan Dean Storey, 37, at his house in the 600 block of Northeast Fifth Avenue on charges of abuse of a corpse after serving a search warrant at about 6 a.m., Friday, Feb. 2, Anderson said. Shortly after 9 a.m., police arrested Storey's accomplice — Juan Manuel Cordero, 34, of Gresham at his home in the 7800 block of Southeast Teton Drive.

Both men face charges of first- and second-degree abuse of a corpse and second-degree theft.

Storey is being held at the Justice Center Jail on a no-bail detainer warrant for violating his probation on an October 2005 burglary charge. Cordero is being held on $27,500 bail at the Justice Center Jail.

Officers also recovered a videotape of the crime in Storey's home, but not the teeth, Anderson said.

The men allegedly pulled two or three teeth from the man, who police estimate died four months ago. Detectives are still investigating how long the body had been there when the suspects allegedly stole his teeth, Anderson said.

"From what I understand, the body was pretty well decomposed when they went there," Anderson said, crediting the video for this information.

The men reportedly found the body and extracted gold teeth from it. Then they boiled the teeth, removing the gold and pawning it for $66, which the suspects reportedly split.

In addition, police reportedly found methamphetamine in Storey's house. A grand jury will decide whether to charge him with possession of a controlled substance, Anderson said.

I have to wonder.................................

how much money would it take for the "Average Joe" to pull the teeth from a rotting dead person, boil them, remove the gold, and then trek them on down to the pawn shop? These guys split $66. That's a lot of work! Not to mention the health hazards...

Then, I have to wonder... what sort of pawn shop pays for gold fillings - especially from guys who smell like they've been messing with a dead body?

Creepy stuff.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Speaking of entrepeneurs, I guess around here lately there has been a rash of missing catalytic converters from people's cars. They get stolen & sold to a metal recycling place for something like $55 each. :o

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Around here the tweakers are stealing guard rails off bridges to sell for scrap. Pretty soon they'll be pulling the steel siding off buildings. :rotz:

They're just recycling.

Yea, but normally it's best to wait until the "cycle" is done before items are recycled.

Here in Detroit they steal the Copper from Live wires & get electrocuted. 20,000 volts & kiss your ass goodbye. Thats real smart? :icon_smile_dead: :rotz:

The gold teeth thing reminds me of what my wife was telling me. She works at the high school here in town & sees a few kids wearing "Grillz" on their teeth. Ever see this stuff? I couldn't stop laughing at the thought of watching someone try to get this gross, saliva soaked, encrusted, slimey, mouth piece out so they can eat something. :smilielol:

Follow one of these people around & wait for them to die off & you can make a killing at the pawn shop with no work to get it.

First of all, I consider a human body to be something sort of sacred... I realize that they are dead, but it like your last real possession, something that has seen and done so much. I just don't understand how people could disrespect that :rotz: I also want to tell everyone to make sure that you make your final wishes known to your friends and family! It is just nice to make your wishes clear in case they are ever in that situation. I have personally learned a lot about the whole autopsy process, and after I learned what happens.... and seeing. "I am an EMT" made it VERY clear my final wishes! So just be sure your friends and family know these things, it will make it much easier on them knowing they did what you wanted... wow, how did I get on that topic?

Anywho, Meth is a HUGE problem here in ND, and you need to be sure you secure all of your stuff!!! I have had my Ram broken into twice, and I live a block away from the Police station! Since I have lived in my neighborhood, 1996, I have seen five meth busts in.... all probably in the last five years!!!!! Our neighborhood isn't that run down either... I has its low spots, but overall is decent! We are just now starting to get it back into shape! It is nice to see it turn around! five houses have went from rentals to family homes!!!! here is my house!!!! You should have seen it when we first moved in!!!! YUCK!!!! It has come a LONG way, it still has all of the old wood work, stain glass, hardwear, and hardwood floors!

There are some sick and demented individuals out there. When more than one of them come together you get some really sick and scary things. I think we all take for granted our values, morals and common sense. There are a lot of idiots out there. Thank God they have a tendency to self destruct!  :rotz:
