72; Did the factory paint the gas tank, or just undercoat the bottom......

Hi Gang, just ordered a new tank and sender to replace the  "holy one" i have now. It appears that the factory just installled the raw metal tank and it got undercoated   on the bottom and sides with the rest of the car.  Would this be correct and what do most folks do with a new tank.......paint it silver, prime it and undercoat, install it raw.  Thanks for any opinions............J

ive never seen a tank that was bare metal are you sure its not galvenized? im guessing it is , if so slap it up there and leave it as is
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

Yes, 68, I am sure it was galvanized, did not think of that as being a finish. Did not ask Quanta if their tank is galvanized either, but am sure it is.  I take it you think the galvanizing is all that is necessary and will last a long time as is.........thanks.........J
