I dont plan on being pampered. I just would like everybody to stop picking on me. I am thankful though that the picking on is settling down.

I guarantee you the "picking on" bronze has received here has been in direct relation to his annoying BS. The less annoying BS from Bronze, the less he has been "picked on." The more/the more. I think everyone understands and appreciates his energy and excitement, but no one likes the Ritalin kid who runs around screaming, making messes and jumping up and putting his knee in your crotch eight times an hour while you're trying to watch football or read a magazine.

IMO he's learning to tone it down and that's good. Play it cool, try not to annoy, and we all will find life here a most pleasant experience.

Hey, its not that us old farts go around looking for kids to swat.  When we were young, back before we had an internet, or political correctness for that matter, if you made a dumbass statement to real car guys, you got beat up, bitch slapped, ridiculed and ostracised, as well as gaining an instant moron reputation that followed you for months or even years.  Many of us older owners don't feel we should have to be politically correct to everyone all the time, you younger generation kids have taken away our ability to pick on fat guys, gay guys, black guys (and I mean guys here not gals-we rarely picked on chicks back then) kkk guys, dumbass guys, short guys, ugly guys etc, etc,.  We can't say crap about anyone without people jumping down our throats about being insensitive, racist, or pc.

So when someone our daughter's age jumps in the pond and wants to play with the big boys and says something leaving themselves wide open for attack, you shouldn't get all upset and offended when a few of us take advantage of it.  (and I don't think I've done it to anyone here on this site yet, haven't been around long enough to get uppity or sarcastic, even if I was on the old site, and have had my charger since before the pilot for DOH aired, meaning long before many of the high count posters here.  I don't post on this site unless its a topic I feel its worthwhile doing so.  I have another site where I can go to when I want to chat or argue politics, and one I've been on with/and moderate on (sales areas) for the last 7 years or so.  It'll be years before my post count here reaches critical mass.  But at least I'll still have the charger r/t se and maybe it may even be roadworthy by then.  One thing I am always guilty of is posting fairly long responses, you will rarely see me post a one line comment.

Don't let things get to you, Don't feel bad if someone slaps you, when we were growing up, it was politically correct to beat your children, smoke in restaurants and be rude if we really wanted to without fear of offending anyone.  We don't look to offend anyone, but if you lay your head down under our boots please don't expect us to not step down in order to be polite.

It's not just kids being picked on I think, it's also being in the right clique/group!  this site has a lot of people that post responses to the people they know and just flat out ignore the people they don't know most of the time.  Alot of my posts are not responded too , I really don't care.

And when I want to start a new thread it usually has  A) little or no response (not part of the popular group I feel)  or B) gets shot down, laughed at or just made fun of, because I'm not in the right clique.  Even though it's something I'm interested in, 60% of the people don't have any interest  or  use it as an opportunity to make fun of you or what you've posted.

Don't get me wrong, there are some good, fair and understanding people on here.  But not many.  Maybe thats why this thread was started. . .who knows!

Then why do I stay here and post?  I do it for the interest of a hobby that I'm very fond of and really don't care what others think of me, and for the love of a car that is part of my history, something sentimental.

My take on that is that you're being thin-skinned. Maybe you don't perceive yourself as such, but that's the way it's coming across. I don't recall myself intentionally not responding to your past posts & I seriously doubt there are many here who do. Sorry if you feel as though you've been intentionally ignored in the past.

I don't think threads (or posts) are overlooked or have little response because they were started by any certain individual, it's more like the subject content. If the subject doesn't appeal to a wide variety of individuals, it's not going to draw as many responses as one that does...just common sense. I seriously doubt you've been singled out to be automatically ignored by anybody.

There's plenty of times I've posted things that sounded good to me when I played it in my head ;D, that had little or no response...I chalk that up to "the joke was more funny in person" type of thing, does that make sense?  That's just how it is, some things are just more widely received than others. I don't think I'm in any certain 'click', maybe I am, maybe I'm not...don't really care. I consider a lot of members here friends, though. :yesnod:
Chances are, quite a few of my posts are merely written off as a bunch of mindless babble & tossed aside, this one included, but at least it sounded good in my head as I wrote it. :icon_smile_tongue:

If you look at this thread; http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,24069.0.html , he got zero responses & is now buried 3 pages back. I'm guessing part of the reason for zero responses is because he's talking about a Chebby, or because he's sorta babbling, or maybe it's just because his avatar & sig pic tends to sour people's opinion of him, I dunno.

Oh & as a polar opposite to Lord Warlock's comment (somebody's gotta do it), I enjoy posting one line responses...there's less typing involved that way. :nana:

QuoteA) little or no response (not part of the popular group I feel)  or B) gets shot down, laughed at or just made fun of, because I'm not in the right click
There are no popular groups in car forums.  There may be a group that responds to similar type threads, but this isn't high school, forum members don't hang out together waiting to slap around the ugly kid.  I believe the word you are searching for is clique, not click.  You click a mouse, or a bic lighter.  Don't worry so much about "belonging to a group"  life is what YOU make of it, not what your friends do or say.  Once you get out of your teens, and grow a family of your own, going out and doing group things with friends just isn't that important anymore, your new group is family and that is the only group that really matters.  You can have car friends but don't do things to a car because a friend thinks it looks better that way, only do it if YOU think its better that way.   If I modded my charger when I was young to impress friends or acquaintances it'd be tubbed, roll barred, painted a different color, have a bunch of stupid scoops and wings on it and it would probably be rotting in a scrap yard now because it isn't what "I" wanted most.

Car forums as a whole are a source of information, from a group of people that share a similar interest, and may or may not be able to provide you with advice worth following.  We are not a car club or group of buddies that meet up at the drive in hamburger joint on Saturday nights.  (or a gang)

CHARGER FAN:
I never said that I had been singled out, hence this thread was wrote.

Lord Warlock:
"BINGO!" It's the group that respond to similar type threads that I am referring to "the Clique!"  By the way, I want to thank you for the correction on my English and I am truly sorry that it offended you enough that you felt compelled to correct me even though you knew what I meant when I used click instead of clique.  F.Y.I.  I have gone back and corrected my mistakes on the word clique.
As far as belonging to a group. I was under the assumption that the Charger Meassage Board was a group. A group of people with common interest. And as for my "friends", they are supposed to be people I meet in person as well as on this message board or for that matter just about anywhere.
As for the group that really matters. I value my wife and five children dearly "BUT" Lord Warlock I don't limit myself to just family.

Not a Car Club?  We're not buddies? Shame on you! If this forum is just for information that you may or may not be worth following then tell me Lord Warlock why is it so personal? We each have a name we gave ourselves and we each talk about personal things.
Define car club for me. Does it have to be limited to hanging out at the drive-in hamburger joint or even on a specific day of the year where people meet at a particular place?

Why not meet here on the Charger Message Board (with open minds)! Why not consider getting to know others here that aren't someone you've met in person like at a car show?  Who knows we may even end up being "buddies!"  But you have to try first!

Hey, don't get personal 2fast4U.....I've had my custom tag 2QIK4U since 1984.  As far as correcting english/grammar, its a pet peeve and wasn't meant to be argumentative, only informational.  I'm inactive as a member of the grammar police here, but it is how I make my living, writing stuff so will correct you if it rubs me the wrong way.  And got tired of seeing click repeated by not just yourself but others as well, so just clarified so everyone could know the right way to do it.

Yes the charger board is a group, and some may even have what they consider friends online.  I have a couple here that know me from my other boards (I use the same user name everywhere) and may consider me as a friend.  However, I don't group, I don't try to meet anyone in person, and don't attend events...mainly because my car isn't roadworthy yet.  Maybe I'll try to later when it is.

Car club? it depends on the definition or how you perceive a car club.  In a sense we are a virtual car club, but nothing like what a car club was considered to be (basically the same as a social gang) back when I was a kid.  In my days, car clubs met on the weekends or on select weeknights with cars and leather jackets and patches and either street raced, or generally raised a little hell...similar to a biker gang.  I belong to the local mustang club, I attend meetings and gatherings, and occasionally go to regional gatherings.  I consider it to be a car club.  I don't feel the same way about the message boards.  I have attended regional gatherings with other car forum groups though but don't consider them as official car clubs either....an enthusiast group yes, a large organization yes, and friends yes, but car club no.  I am the Local chapter President of the Stealth owners of North Florida, as I plan all the gatherings etc, but it isn't truly a car club, just a loose organization.
There is a local mopar car club that i will join when the charger is roadworthy again, and includes people i consider friends, but i don't hang with them now, not until my car is ready.  Even though my stealth is a mopar, it doesn't really fit in with old musclecars...plus its jap powered so would be classified as a rice burner in my age group.  (ricer)

I have friends online, who are mostly people that have read my longwinded posts and agree with most of what I spew out, and I spend way too much time online so I guess they would fall under the category of buddies, but since I haven't met them in person, it just doesn't feel the same.  But I ain't driving halfway across the country just to meet some online friends...sorry, the torture of kids in the car for 2 days is just too much to handlle.  And I rank my family as more important use of time.

As with everything that changes I would say the definition of "club" has had to bend to suit the internet. For me a club is a gathering of common minded individuals. Nothing says the meeting of individuals had to be in person. We're all here for the love of Chargers or Mopars more in general, or just car fans. And yes of the membership here certain individulas will tend to see, through posts, a deeper commonality than with others. This will grow through through PMs and such. And on some boards clique is indeed applicable. And it doesn't take long for these to be identified and all members listed and accounted for.
They do exist and are more overt in some instances than others. I do not think that they exist or function on this board as on several others that I visit.
They are real and do survive in cyberspace.
No my thing though. I'm more of the gathering of the like minded individuals to talk, laugh and have a good time and see the automotive addiction has afflicted others than myself. While my family is first and formost in my life, none but my oldest will discuss cam lift and duration or the qualities and styling cues of a 1969 Charger versues a 1968 or 1970 versions.
But I would have to term the board a club and personalities do come through the keyboards given enough time on them.

Lord Warlock

I don't believe in fighting on the internet, yelling or screeching etc.  I can argue with my fingers just fine.  I certainly don't expect everyone to agree with my own beliefs.  Car clubs to me are an in person thing.  Web forums are an extension of car clubs, and allow those of us that would meet together in person if it was feasible but for some reason want to do much of what we would do at a real car club while sitting in our chair at home.

I do enjoy discussing car topics online, its much cheaper than firing up the 440.
