My "Barn" find

68 Hemi Superbee.  I would say it was a solid #2 car.  I took these pics in 1997 or 1998.  They were taken in the Heliport police hangar in Syracuse NY.  Rumor has it that the car was siezed from a drug dealer.  This car is no longer there.  I heard it was auctioned off a few years ago in Edison NJ.

good find ,      there is some thing about a 68 HEMI bee ....  menicing looking .. ready to run .  i wonder what it sold for.

I have a lot more, but they are regular pics, my fatherinlaw scanned these for me tonight.  I have shots of the undercarriage, interior, more of the engine....I will post up if I get them scanned....

Yes I did, and would have pursued it, but my friend is a cop there (the one who told me about the car and let me take the pics) and he said the word was out among the cops, seems someone knew what it was.  It also did not auction locally, somehow went to NJ.  If it had gone local and my friend was able to give me the date, I might have bid on it.  I actually wrote to Eberg about it and he posted my letter in the magazine.  It was a "what's it worth" letter.  He said that 30K would have been a good price if it was not a bondo wagon.

I assure you, this car was no bondo wagon.  You could have put 5 grand into this thing and had a show winner.  paint/body was so solid, it had been redone already.  the worst things wrong with it were some of the underhood stuff and lots of wrong clamps on exhaust etc... plus it had been driven, the underside was pretty much like all of our drivers.  kind of cool that it is a bench/column car also.

Very nice.  For some reason, it seems like I see a lot of 68 Bees with stripe delete and it looks so good on those cars.  I see someone went to the trouble to clean the dust off the fender tag. lol

that be me.  I don't think I have any closeups of it, or the vin...but I tend to think it was the real deal...10 years ago, who was cloning hemi superbees?  I don't think anyones doing that even now.

 That car should have been auctioned off locally ! I wonder if there was some foul play going on.  Why else would it go some where else Makes you kind of think, don't it.
