They tell you at the end of the vid:
Charger: 11.70 @ 115
Lambo: 12.70 @ 114

That's awesome, I like it when the guy says the lambo is winding up but he is not gonna catch that charger.

Damn, that Lambo popped off a 12.70 with a horrible start and rookie driver (did you see his staging? gaak). I guess it's not bad for a 250K car? I'm sure I'll be corrected on the price.  ;) Guy was probably setting the A/C to high when he was at the tree or something, which got him distracted.

Nice Charger BTW.

naw, he hesitated because his high mantinance girlfriend was bitching at him in Italian,  and he was translating, still got his clock cleaned

Ok guys stay calm down...lets think the Charger is definitelly not stock, and Lambo probably it is.

you're right.  The lambo is stock, BUT lambos are supposed to be bad ass stock.  That's why you pay so much.  That dude just didn't know how to drive.  it should have been a much closer race

A lot of those exotic supercars aren't exactly known for a "rev it to 4 grand and dump the clutch" ability either.  Gearing and clutch are more set up for high speed road work.

You asked for it... MSRP is from 175,000. (Btw this is for the Gallardo as I believe that is what it is)

I don't know the specs of the Charger but the Gallardo if standard puts out 500hp SAE @ 7,800rpm and 376ft lb @ 4,500rpm.

European car manufacturers are not the least bit interested in 1/4 mile or 0-60 times. They cannot relate to anyone being interested in that. Their interest is high speed handling. Given the 12.70 ET for the Lambo, I'd say that car is completely stock. Now this is a car that is not designed for 1/4 times. Put a stock hemi Charger or 440 Charger that was[/b] designed for the quarter mile and let it rip off its 13.05s or 13.3s all day.
Now there has been a quantum leap in technology between the Charger and Lamborghini so that has a bearing on it, but other than 4 wheels and doors these cars have no similarities at all. Plus the 11.70 of the Charger has taken a lot of advantage of the  aftermarket.
Plus the Lambo has about 30-50 mph more top end than the Charger (depending on gearing) and can actually turn at 150 or more.

I'm not knocking the Charger , I love Mopars, but that race was was apples to oranges to turniips.

Put Arnold Schwarzenegger against Lance Armstrong - same thing.

Holy shit!! I actually agree with silver!!

that Zo6 is the best bang for the buck out there.  period... it will run easliy in the 11's with drag radials...and do almost 200mph right out of the box.

I'm totally agree... USA passion is really 1/4 mile performance, Europeans are oposite long distance and top high speed performance beside resistance.

I LIKE A LOT THAT COMPARISION YOU USED, but is better compare Amstrong agains a track bike runner or cross country ( I don't know a name of one actually ), to compare both bikers.

Another stuff to analize is fuel performance and consumption at same speeds.

-actually that is just why I went so far apart. Other than being bipedal (and not pedals on a bike) humaniods that is about all they share. I know you were refining the comparison somewhat to make the analogy a bit fairer, I was going for the polar point of view. ;D

Lambos are all hype, Way overpriced but if you can afford one you can pretty much afford anything but just because they are expensive doesn't make them the fastest thing on the road. 12.70s nowadays isn't that impressive.

They make absolutely no claim to being the fastest thing on the road. The 1/4 mile time is merely an offshoot of the design parameters used to build the car. Medium range horsepower in a lightweight car gives these results as a byproduct. For those that have the money and have lusted after an Italian, they are an alternative to a Ferrari or Maserati. There are different beliefs what qualities an automobile should possess.

NYCMille

Have you ever driven a Lamborghini? if not you have no basis whatsoever to be talking about them... I can tell you first hand they are, without a doubt one of the most IMPRESSIVE automobiles on this earth - If I had the money I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Brock Samson

a more interesting race would be the open road races like the Nevada open road challange...
or maybe load capacity...  ;D
here in sf we have a parking challange...  :yesnod:

I've driven them, and a whole bunch of other exotics as well and for me personally, no thanks.  Not necessarily because of a performance issue (although a few don't live up to the hype) but mainly from a practicality and maintenance issue.  But mostly, just because it isn't my flavor of motoring, which is all a very subjective opinion.  At least I can say it was formed by some experience.

I can agree on the practicality and maintenance, but you can't say they are not impressive automobiles, their technology always vast ahead of what the regular people are driving. The first exotic I ever drove was a Ferrari Testarossa, even though (IMO) one of the most ugliest cars produced in the 80s the drive was something I will never forget I only had my licence 2 months it was the first time I went over 120mph on a highway. After that I have driven both old and new Maserati's and an Aston Martin and I am in love...

They won't even touch my love for Chargers and Mopars in general because like said before it's apple's and oranges...

For me, they're just not my thing.  That's the beauty of it, there's room for us all.  I'm much more impressed by the cars I'm into and if I walked into a parking lot and there was a Ferrari Boxer and a 69 Charger in the lot, I'd walk to the Charger first.  Even if it were further away.

I gotta agree there, that car is GORGEOUS, rolling automotive art.

pettyfan43

The biggest thing for me is that for what they want for the rolling-doorstop-egomobile, I could build a comparable Charger and then buy a Viper for a driver.
Not a sports car kinda guy. I rode in a Viper one time THAT WAS IMPRESSIVE!!!!!!!!!!! I rode in a 66 Hemi Charger once, THAT WAS FUN!

For the Money, gimme that Hemi Charger!

Actually for that money, I could build the Charger and buy a RAM SRT10 for a driver, YEAH THAT'S THE TICKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
