I'm not trying to light any fires, but can't help but wonder why most everyone thinks the new car doesn't "look" like a Charger because it has few second generation styling cues. There are other Chargers than the '68 and '69.
Personally I see quite a few first gen cues in the '06 Charger.

Without the first gen Chargers, there would be no precious 2nd gens.

Because there would be no Chargers, obviously.   If there is no first gen Charger, there can be no 2nd gen.   Or 3rd, 4th, etc...   See where I'm going with this?

Quite the contrary.  Without the first generation of ANY car model, there can NOT be any continuing generations, because the car would not exist.  Do you understand?  If there is no first gen, that means the car was never made.

Basically, your argument appears to be that if the 66-67 charger was not built, none of the future cars could have been conceived or built, correct?  If this is your argument, how could any new car ever be built if it's existence depends on a previous model year having existed?


BTW, if your argument is that the 68-70 charger couldn't be called the "second gen" if the first gen cars weren't built, I agree with that part...

I think that was his point.  In terms of "generations" of something, there can't be a second generation without a first.  The Charger could, in theory, have been built in any fashion at any time.  Obviously, that is what DCX is attempting to do now; create a whole new type of Charger since the car hasn't been built for about 20 years.  They seem to think that the buying public has completely forgotten about the original cars, and what they were.
