BRAND NEW TO THE MOPAR HOBBY.  JUST PICKED UP A GREAT DEAL, PULLED THE ENGINE(WITH ENORMOUS HELP FROM GREAT FRIENDS), GAVE HER A QUICK SPRUCING UP AND PUT HER BACK TOGETHER THE NEXT WEEK. IT DEFINITLEY IS NOT A RARE CAR, BUT NONE THE LESS AM INTERESTED IN THE BREAKDOWN IF ANYONE CAN HELP. THIS IS MY FIRST POST, GLAD TO BE ABOARD.
                                                                                                  THANKS A LOT-  72 CHARGER

You need to hook up with the 3rd gen registry folks around here and they'll be able to answer your questions better.  As a gneralization, there were about 75 thousand Chargers made that year.  If you give the first 6 digits of the vin, it can be broken down quite a bit more accurately depending on model of Charger combined with engine and transmission.

The drip through is actually a drip trough moulding and its the chrome strip running over the upper edge of the side glass.  The little trough formed by the roof that keeps the rain off your head getting in and out of the car (in theory).  They made about 33,069 Chargers in that model with 318 automatics in 1972.

Another noob here,  whats the difference between the coupe and the hardtop..........thanks.........J

twilt

The rear 1/4 windows on a coupe are fixed-they dont roll up/down.

The numbers I have (GG-whitebook) are a little different than those Nacho posted.

For a WH23G2 the numbers I have are 33,069 autos and 83 3-speed manuals

As far as finding or selling parts...such as a headlight motor/rod....I have found ebay to be the best way for me.

And...........congrats on your new purchase!   Post some pics when you get the chance.

Thanks again for the responses.  This site is a great tool for info.  The car I have is a hardtop (the quarter windows roll up/down, still pretty  smoothly)  As I was poking around tonight I noticed on the rear package tray, the holes in the body metal are two different sizes??  Does anyone out there know the reason for that?  I have also realized that I need a few items, if anybody has any of the following let me know: Passenger side sun visor, arm rest pads front and rear, driver side remote mirror, rear wing spioler, front chin spoiler, and if anyone has a spare bulge hood laying around...???  Glad to be here and as soon as i figure out how to get some pix posted I will, as I am sorta computer illiterate, my wonderful, understanding wife will probably wind up helping me. Thanks again guys.
