Why can't you delete/report your own threads?

I'm told by the site that it doesn't make sense for me to report my own thread and have it deleted. In many cases, yes, but I just screwed up and posted a Legendary "Free Shipping" code in General only to find out that someone else already did that so why don't we have the ability to delete our own mistakes rather than take up space and bandwidth on a redunant thread? I suppose you robot people can now mock me for the oversight but the truth is mistakes are sometimes made by us humans and we'd like the chance to fix them.

You should be able to delete as long as no one has responded yet. You can delete your own posts but not someone else's (so if your post started a thread you can't delete it as deleting a thread deletes all posts). I'm not sure why you can't report it though. I never knew about that limitation.

Yea, for giggles I just tried to report this one and this is what I got:

"An Error Has Occurred!
You can't report your own post to the moderator, that doesn't make sense!"

And it's been a while since I tried deleting one of my own threads but it won't let you do that either. It will let you delete a post but not your first post if you started the thread (which would basically amount to an attempt to eliminate the thread, whether someone replies or not).

I guess you can't report your own post but you have the ability to edit it. Maybe the software engineers decided that it was redundant.
