Can any one tell me what uni-joint(s) I have in my car?

I tried doing a search but didn't really find the info I was looking for...

I have a factory auto 383 4bbl '68 with an 8 3/4 rear...The front uni joint needs replacing but I may as well do both while I'm under there!!

Are they the same part? How can I tell which type/style I have? There are a lot of different part numbers on www.rockauto.com and I don't know what to order.. :icon_smile_question:

Thanks,
Danny

The front and rear u-joints are the same.   They are either the 7260 or 7290 type.     The 7260 measures 2 1/8th inches across.   The 7290 measures 2 5/8th inches across.
You will have to measure those to be sure you get the right one, they should be available from a local auto parts store.

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

Thanks Plumcrazy - that's a great help! My local parts store may not have them...I'm in Australia...ha ha!

You never know, they might.
Also, I should have told you that the measurement is inside width, including the clips.

Yeah, I may be lucky huh?

Sorry Plumcrazy, - what exactly do you mean by 'the inside width'??

Anyone got a pic of where to measure??

Thanks again

On your yoke, it's from inside edge to inside edge across that "Y" portion.  Does that make sense?
