Well if they did it right and the part with the motor ID looked like something besides a blur it would be better.

terrible one

I kind of like the idea. I'll agree that it doesn't look too great though. I think the main problem is that towards the rear of the car the black follows the bodylines, but as it nears the door it violently juts down and away from the upper bodyline which makes it look bad. Then the blur effect seems kind of crooked and irregularly spaced.

Ya that wing doesn`t do anything for the car :)

IT is actually a neat cocept, just not done very well. If somebody took time to do it and make it look original, it might look kinda neat, I mean EVERYBODY throws standard R/T and Rally stripes on em right?

BTW Just what is wrong with that spoiler? HUH?

;D Chris who has one of those on MY 73 S/E!

It would look better without those wheels and a full vinyl top.

What movie is this?  Looks familiar for some reason.

;)  Thought I had seen it before.

Lord Warlock

actually that is a photoshop of the gone in 60 sec movie.  The real car in the movie did not have the black side markings, it had the gills on the door and that was it.  I've watched the movie at least 4 times in the past 2 months on speed tv.  The charger does a great 180 slid without hitting the trash truck, stops just missing the truck, then two cop cars hit the truck from the other side causing the trash truck to tip over and squash the charger, eventually causing it to catch fire.  Totally ruined a nice looking car for no reason whatsoever.  What do the gills on the door indicate...i.e. what package got those slits?

I put flat black outs from my doors through the quarters. A quick fix when I bought it to a basketball size tea-stain paint reaction on the driver's side from a previous life to otherwise 10ft paint - got me through a summer.

Meh, I certainly wouldn't kick the car above out of my driveway! :)

that aint no photoshop, those door scoops arent scoops they are stickers they are way to far forward to the fender

Lord Warlock

chargerpunk,  if you've watched gone in 60 seconds, (the original movie not the remake) you'd notice the green charger had NO black stripes at all on the sides of the car, it was all green except for fender/door gills, I seem to remember them about 5 horizontal slits not vertical ones.  Someone has taken the  shot from the movie and made changes to the paint scheme.

They could be stickers, but not on that car.  You'll notice the garbage truck in the left side of the frame.  If i hadn't just watched the movie less than 2 weeks ago I'd think my memory was failing and agree with you.

My comments were directed only to the green charger pictured above, not the barracuda striped charger in the original post.  The cuda striped charger is indeed a billboard stripe from a cuda on a charger, which in my mind could have been done better.

Argos_Chargers

If you don't like it, buy the car and change it!  Otherwise, it really isn't any of your business how the car is painted.  What the owner of the car likes is a lot more important than what someone else likes.

I have that movie on DVD and it IS painted black along the sides. It has the stripes broken up on the door AS IF it has gills but it doesn't. BUT THE CAR IS painted black along the sides. BTW you see the SAME car very early in the chase right as it starts after Pace gets in the Mustang. IT just doesn't have the black panels on it. The car looks to be lime green which wasn't available on the 71 car. It MIGHT be Curious yellow.

Remember the stunt cars in that movie were all rebuilt wrecks or otherwise junkers. The salvage yard in the movie was owned by Halicki and the cars were stuff pulled form the yard.

Lord Warlock

Strange, because I got to see the movie twice in one day, once the following day on SPEED channel and twice I made sure to look directly at that particular sequence, and did not see black painted sides on the 2nd and 3rd viewing.  Maybe the DVD has different takes with different cars.  If it comes back on, which I expect it will, i'll make sure I tape it, but I won't rent it or buy a dvd just to prove myself right or wrong.  After all, its only a 71 charger, not like the red 69 Charger R/T visible in the tow truck/challenger vs rent-a-cop scene.

I would have to say Chargerpunk is right this time; I just made another screenshot of the movie just as proof.
