73-78 B-BODY LEAFSPRINGS AND TORSIONBARS

  IS THERE ANYONE REPRODUCING THE HD SUSPENSION STUFF FOR THE NEWER 73-78 B-BODY'S ?

T-bars are supposelly "HD" from factory on 73/74.  71 R/Ts what are completelly HD on all its parts including springs SHOULD it fit on 73/74 since frame rails are the same. Just the front isolator bushing is different because isolation stuff on later models instead performance, but distance to center of bushing should it be the same. Anyway we have to confirm that.

Rear springs should fit.  73+ Torsion Bars are longer than earlier and won't exchange.  That is without cutting and welding in a new T bar crossmember...

73- up Rear Springs had the front Oval eye.

confirmed. A friend of mine installed a 71 rear spring on his 74, so even the oval front bushing, length is the same between center of bushing and the end of spring and fits.

Not all 73's have oval bushings. My car was built 9/13/72 (an early 73). It has round bushings.

The hole for the pilot or spring bolt in the spring pad on the rear end is larger and will have to be bushed to the smaller size unless you continue to use all of the isomount stuff that came with the 73. I believe that would be the 73 spring center bolt as well. I took all of the isomount crap off of the rear springs when I mounted the Cal Tracs. It can be done but you will need to fabricate bushings and such.

                                                           PS.   If you look at the rear cross member that is welded into the frame you will see where the torsion bars mounted before the isomount suspension. I haven't checked the measurement's but I'll bet you could weld the round torsion bar mount socket into the preexisting hole and be able to use the stock B body torsion bars. I'm going to attempt this on my car as soon as I can afford to buy the aluminum spacers to replace the rubber ones at the K frame mounting.

we are talking about the spring itself and not about the clamps or axle pedestal that FOR SURE is different and doesn't fit. I made diagrams about that on another thread

I did forget to mention that the center hole of the oval bushing is a different size from the round bushing.  So the hole in the front spring hanger will have the wrong size hole in it.
