in my sbc that has about 5 hours run time on it the oil preassure is 60 warm at idle and 80 at speed(in a jet boat), this is with a fram oil filter and 10-30w oil. what oil/oil filter should i start running to try and bring the preassure down some?

What is the air temp?  A 5W-30 will work nice if your air temps are below 50 F.  After you get  the motor broke in change your oil.

good luck

air temp is about 60, but it is constant cold water running through from the hose because its a jet boat.....and come to think of it i may have put 20-50 in. well ill pick up some 5-30 tomorrow and see if that helps. i read somewhere that certain brand oil filters are less restrictive, is this true?

For the love of god man, toss that FRAM filter into the garbage before you ruin your engine.  I have heard nothing but horror stories with vehicles that have used FRAM filters.

ok i got 5-30 and a pennzoil filter, changed the oil and found gas  :icon_smile_angry: i also turned my plugs jet black in 30 minutes and the smelled like gas so it was running extremely rich, adjusted the carb and it starts much easier now and idles better so i hope i fixed that problem.

it started up at 70psi so thats already much better. the brand new spark plugs smell like gas and are already black! this is after 20 minutes of idling/quick revs in my driveway. its an edelbrock 750 and i adjusted the idle screws almost completely closed. so my next step is to put a fuel preassure regulator in, if that doesnt work swap my holley 650 onto there and see if that fixes it. i used this electric fuel pump with a 600fcm carter and i never had a problem. how much psi can an edelbrock handle?

U can swap to bigger metering rods, your float level might be too high............7 lbs max or u will be blowing the needles off of there seats.............Kim...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................p.s..........u may have a sinking float.......

10 psi! so i got the regulator and have it between 4-5 psi(should be 5.5 but im not complaining yet). hopefully after i get the idle adjusted the plugs will clear out and no more gas in the oil. the pil preasure is still between 60-80 when the engine is cold, is this too high? possibly the reason why i have an oil leak at my timing cover...
