Anyone know people that were "SEALs"? well here's an interesting read....

Of course SEALs are an elite special forces team but what is interesting is there have only been 10,000 ever trained...ever! yet it seems like EVERYONE knows someone who claims to be a SEAL. I read somewhere that for every 200 people  claiming to be SEALs when investigated only 1 is authentic. I know I've heard the exact same stories detailed in the link below, "secret class" "their name is not listed anywhere because it's so "classified" "last survivor" ect.

Claiming to be a SEAL gives instant credibility and respect...if you know someone who claims to have been a SEAL take a look at this:

If someone claims to be or been a SEAL ask to see their "coin"! Allot of elite class military have special coins! If a military buddy asks to see your coin and you can't provide it then you have to buy him a drink! I saw a show about a guy who collected these coins from SEALS, Airborne, JTF2, Rangers, etc.

Although I never served, I have family members who have..........My Uncle was a Ranger in Viet Nam [3 tours], and 2 cousins who served in the Marines ReCon.....They were stationed on Okinawa. I also have 2 good friends who served together in Viet Nam that were in fact SEAL's.
And I can tell you this.....none of them talk about their "jobs" with just anyone. The only reason I know about my two buds being SEAL's is because after a hard night of drinking with them, we had an altercation in the parking lot with over zealous club security people. There were four of us, and seven of them...........My two buds [the SEAL's] went from drunken pirates to stone cold killers in about 10 seconds......and those two 50-something year olds wiped the parking lot with those steroid junkie gym rats in under 2 minutes! Amazing men those two......I've never seen anything like that in my life. That night, as we sat in lock-up, they told me a stories of some of their adventures.......and for just a brief moment, they let me in.

hey drache.... but on the other hand...if you "challenge"  someone to see their coin.... and they have it....YOU owe them a drink!!! hahahaha
i was one of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children (USMC) and also ride in a military veteran/law enforcement motorcycle club...we  have coins made up for the club, and also all the military guys have thier branch/unit coins!!!!! guys are always challenging each other!!! sometimes it can get outta hand!!!!! but funny!!!!! especially when someone knows someone else doesn't have their coin on them....phew...look out!!!!!!! hahahaha

I've met quite a few in my 20 years transporting them here and there.  Also in my SERE class, many were instructors.  I do personally know one Team Member whom i lost touch with many years ago.  He was a mech and went and tried out. First time he didn't make it because of a broken leg, second time he did.  David W Sparks was his name.  I searched once, but couldn't find him but this was about 8 years later.  I think he must have gotten out or something.  Hopefully it wasn't a bad something.  We used to do some brutal PT in Puerto Rico and he wanted me to try with him, can't say I didn't think about it, but in the end it's the swimmming that would have ended it for me(don't like water and i'm in the navy, go figure)  SO I took the easy way out and became a Navy Combat Aircrewman instead.

Anyways, that was very interesting, and right on with the coins all of you. That is pretty much exactly how they work.
