The 18 spline was the heavy duty Hemi box.  Which isn't to say that it would be impossible to for it to find it's way into applications other than a 440 or 426, but not likely.

what's the spline ?

  i forgot to mention                       that box is on ebay now , it is a 18 spline 440/HEMI  box
