What's with the Japanese and their ability to film strange sea creatures?

That's right! I forgot about that. IIRC those atomic tests created a big rubber suit that someone put on and then they filmed him stomping on a scale model of Tokyo.

A crime the frilled shark didn't last longer. But to be on the surface as opposed to their normal habitat of 600-1000 metres deep the pressure differential would be the death knell of it. But another neat specimen. I can remember when coelacanths were considered super rare living fossils. Now they are found on a pretty regular basis.

who knows whats down in the deep sea ,  i was watching a documentary  about this stuff a while a go &  it was mentioned on the program that we know more a bout   outer space , solar system etc than we know about  whats  down there in the deep

Actually, the coelacanth was thought to have been extinct for several million years when one was caught off the coast of Africa.

i saw a tv show about ten years ago that showed wreakage found on a remote island had the serial number of her plane,..
natives said the Japanese took the remains if my memory serves correctly a fighter shot them down...

That's a 2 year old story, I suspect they didn't find anything substantial, or we would have heard by now?

When I was serving in the US Navy back in the mid 80's, my sonarman friend would sometimes let me see his screens. Occassionally there would be big unaccounted stuff down there (like a 1/4 the size of a football field-and moving) He said that kind of stuff is seen often and they dont always know what it is either...I worked in the engine room and we would flush stuff out of the sea chest strainers that we often couldnt identify either. (cue twilight zone music here)

A turtle given a Christmas treat of Brussels sprouts caused a Boxing Day emergency when it set off an alarm at a sea life centre – by passing wind.

Its bubbles in the water tank were sent up a tube to the surface, where they popped and splashed water on to a sensor.

Marine biologist Sarah Leaney rushed to the 500,000 litre tank in Weymouth, Dorset, assuming it was overflowing.

'Sprouts are a healthy Christmas treat for sea turtles,' she said. 'But they give similar side effects to those experienced by humans.'"

UPDATE: The Associated Press reported Thursday that Loren Coleman, a Portland author and cryptozoologist, examined the beast and believed it was a feral dog. State wildlife biologists and local animal control officers did not examine the animal.

A feral animal is one that has escaped from domestication and returned to its wild state.
