This year the feature car is "Wing Cars".  Hope to see many of you there.  You can register right on Carlisle's website for the wing car reunion.

John,

You won't get to park with your club friends yet again!!

:P

Are you gonna take the F6 car this year?  I seriously doubt I'll have a car there, but I'm still holding out some small hope I can make it sans Daytona.

johntpr

Actually registered both my cars..just have to figure out how I am going to get them both there!  Hope your car is done by then !

Only if you put a wing on it.Says wing, not aero. :eyes:

69_500

Hmmm, so all I need to do is put a wing on it, and I'll be all good to go? That shouldn't be hard.

It was about the time of the first aero meet at Carlisle that a lot of people learned what a 500 was.

I think a lot of people still need to find out what they are. Still a ton of people who don't even recognize one when they see it.

69_500

I just tell people that factory workers smoked a lot of wacky tabacco back in 69, and they just forgot to put the wing and nose cone on the car.

XXHEMI

Just got a call today from Ed (who is running the wing thing) at Carlisle  and he says 500's are welcome. So lets see some! I will bring two, anyone else?

They are hoping to have the largest gathering of Winged Cars ever. It is also the Convertible Reunion , all years , all Mopars.

Easy...I volunteer to drive either one down for you and back. Hey I will even take it home if you don't have the room.
Serious great looking cars...I always enjoy seeing the F6 Daytona as its my favourite colour on them.
Good luck with the Re-Union!!!

Hi.   I am new to this board but I plan on looking at it more.
I have a 71 Charger SE that I bought new and still have.  I ordered it while in Vietnam.
I would like to come to the show this summer but won't be able to.
I was there in 95 when we brought the #48 Dan Gurney Cuda trans am racer.
I think it was building T that we were in.  That was the year it was so hot.
I think it got up to 105 that saturday.
I think this will bring up the pics of the Superbird.   It has 35K on it and we are going to go back through it and fix all the little things that need some attention and some TLC.

Thanks  Dave

ViperDMCG

WOOOOOha.  that was too big
See if this works better

hemigeno

Dave,

Welcome to the site, and that's an awesome looking 'Bird!  Not a tremendous number of Petty Blue ones out there - you should be proud.

I take it you're the owner of the #48 DG Cuda as well?  Quite a collection, and to be the original owner of a '71 Charger too...   :2thumbs:

Thanks for posting, and I hope you enjoy looking around the site.

We sold the Cuda a couple of year ago.  We had had it since the early 80's and have been all over with it doing Vintage races and some exibitions.  We took it to Goodwood in england twice and have been from Laguna Seca to Daytona to Mosport in Canada with it .
Right now we are restoring the #76 Challenger Trans am racer and it will be done later this year.  We restored the #77 Challenger back about 10 years ago.  It races in vintage races now and belongs to Ken Epsman in Calif.
Our other Mopar Racer is the #74 Challenger petty kit car.  It has been on a couple of Mopar magazine covers.  This is the Prototype Challenger that Petty built for the Chrysler kit car program and the one that Earnhardt tested for Petty.  I tried to  post a pic of it earlier but it was too big and I lost everything I had typed.  I need to learn how to downsize my pics so I can post them
The Superbird is 1 of the 50 made in Petty Blue (999).  28 are on the superbird registry but I don't know how many of those are restored.   Seems like about 1/2 of them are still unrestored or parts cars.  If there is such a thing now days.   I don't know if there is another on like it.  I have seen one pic of a Petty blue one that is close and has Pettys number and decals on it.   It was done a long time ago and I don't know where it is now.   The Bird is a 440-4v, 4 speed, white buckets,  with Dana track pack.  The other one has an 8 3/4 rear end.
My Charger was ordered while I was in Vietnam and I planned on keeping it forever when I bought it so I still have it now after 36 years.  It is a 71 SE with 383mag 727.   It has all power, leather, Tuff, Rear defroster, AM-FM-Cassette-w/mic,  Suregrip 3.23,  Road wheels, Disc, Headlight washers, and a few other options.
We have two other mopar race cars.  One is a Cuda that is in parts and the other is the Jim Cushman Aspen petty kit car.  It looked like the one that AMT made a model of back years ago.  It will be restored back to the Red, White, & Blue paing job like it ran back then and the #8 on it.
I will be checking on this board frequently and seeing what I can add.

Thanks  Dave  (ViperDave)    Chrysler Vintage Racing.

Not sure on the total. I didn't count the Superbirds I know I know I should have. But I counted 8 charger 500's, 4 of which were HEMI cars. And I also counted 11 different Daytona's that were at the event, well 12 if you include the parts car that was there.

Those are the same totals I came up with after thinking about them and going through my pictures (I had all but Chris Sauer's former car).

I didn't take a count of the Superbirds though - there were quite a few more of them on Saturday than on Friday when I took most of my pictures.  We usually have about 30 wing cars at Monster Mopar (last year was 28 and attendance was down a bit), so it was about as large a gathering as we have every year in St. Louis.

69_500

Gene, you had the information on the HEMI Daytona from before that show as well? I did get a shot of the fender tag on it for Chris.

Guess it is an advantage to having done film/photo's at the event before. Most of the people remembered me and just let me around the chains.
