Got a call today from a buddy who owns a '69 Coronet, all hyped up, who wanted me to video-tape his burnouts.

So, thought I'd share with ya'll.   A few of us Mopar-owners ended up showing up -- was soooo cool!

But let me know if it takes forever to download to view ... this software is asking me for more $ to get the compression codec I wish I had, so am curious.

This ticket is only $69.00 ?  If I'd have known that I'd have been going FASTER !

I'll have to ask what he's done to the engine.  I took some video pics of the engine, but I find without that compression codec, I had to cut down the time on the actual vid.   The car label says Hemi, and the way he was talking, I tend to believe it's a beefed-up Hemi, if a Hemi at all.  It's pretty obvious from the pics that it's beefed up, what with two carbs and all.   :)

QuoteSo, when the cop's show?

My friend called up the day before and asked if I could drive to Dimond to get some video on burnouts.  He was the Coronet owner.  Told him I'd meet him in the CompUSA parking lot (I work there) and we could go the couple blocks he was talking about from there and do the burnouts.  Well, when I showed up at the lot, there were already half a dozen Mopars sitting there.  Woo hoo!

We went the couple blocks to do the burnouts, I taped it all, then I returned to my work to make a phone call.  Well, there was a cop sitting in the lot and I was thinking, "Sheesh, what did I do?  If it was the burnouts, they'd be 2 blocks over ... we didn't do a thing in the lot!"  So I was a bit worried that maybe I had a warrant or something I didn't know about, etc.

Turns out, something was going on nextdoor at the Salvation Army (another 2 cop cars showed up), so I was clear.  LOL!

(Wakko, see what you cops do to us civilians?  LOL!)

QuoteSo what else do you people do beside causing the gas shortage?

Bitch about the way the city's set the lights so that we stop at everyone, thus increasing the gas shortage -- LOL!

Used to be I could do 5-10 over the limit and make all the lights in a row (provided no traffic ahead of me, or traffic I couldn't get ahead of -- LOL!), but now, you have to do like 10 UNDER the limit to make all the lights, and dammit, my car just don't DO that!  I literally can count to 3 after the car ahead of me takes off, and by the time I hit 2nd gear, I'm all on his ass and having to hit the brakes.  I tell ya, I HATE to hit the brakes.  My motto is that anything and everything else you can do option-wise besides hitting the brakes is usually worth doing first.  Brakes are kinda' like a last resort.

Damn ... I should REALLY do a driving column -- LOL!  I think about that stuff all the time and I swear, I think I'm one of the most efficient drivers on the road, even if others think it's rude -- kidding -- LOL!

Honestly, though, I think that setting the traffic lights a certain way and drivers becoming more conscientious of their driving habits (toward a way that would conserve gas) would do a lot for us to economize.  Stopping and starting uses a lot of gas.  Me, my Charger can get too hot at a long light on a hot day.  I've learned to turn the damn thing off at long lights.  (And am durn happy it'll start again, no problem, when the light turns green!)  However, it can freak people out that are behind you -- LOL!  Especially since mine still has that distinctive exhaust leak that we know all Dodges are famous for, thus making it so much louder while running.

Dang, I guess those beers took hold ... I'm blabbing!   :blahblah:

God bless!

Alaskans don't cause gas shortages, world politics and commodity futures do.
