OK, first thing first, I have NO pictures and I haven't seen the car as of yet....  ???

Now that this is out of the way, In 1969 I bought a New Charger and I remember it well, it was a great car.
I have a lead on a 70 Charger R/T FE5, no vinyl top option. Buckets and console, I was told it is a numbers matching car and not sure about any other options at this time.
Yes it is an Arizona Car and from what I have been told it is clean and in decent condition.
I have a 71 R/T with 59,000, 727, air grabber, console and I have the BS for it.
My 71 is also a very clean rustfree car. I met this guy at a car show yesterday and he tells me about a 70 R/T and he is thinking of buying it, when I tell him I had a 69 in the past and I would love to get a 69/70 and then I say I have a 71 in the garage right now, he starts talking about maybe working something out.
So I ask you all, tell me about 70's, the good and bad about them.
Is FE5 a common color and what about no vinyl top?
Anything you can add would be helpful.....
here is a pic of my car.

thanks, Nick

Well, it's a '70 and not a '69 so that about covers the bad!   :yesnod:

As far as the good, it shouldn't cost too much because it's a '70 and not a '69!

In all seriousness, Chris G. and Dodge Don (the owners of the 1970ChargerRegistry) will be a great help with your questions (they're both members here and pop in from time to time), not to mention many other members on this site that will also be able to help.   :yesnod:

Me, I'm a '69 guy and know a bit about the '70's, mostly what parts will work on my '69.   :P

BTW - Great looking '71.

MM1R/T

I'm a '68 guy, but '70 is my 2nd favorite year.

PRO's:  At the risk of offending the 3rd Gen guys, the '70 is only about 300X better looking than the '71.
Of the 2nd Gen cars, the '70's had the longest, coolest option list.
70's had the best color selection.
6 Pack (need I say more?) Yes, I know it was available in '71-I don't care.

CON's:  It's not a '68 (the ultimate Charger) ;)

Wash:  Electric headlights have different issues than vacuum headlights, not fewer issues.
Front wraparound bumper and taillights are a matter of taste, you either like them or you don't.

rt green

pros- its a second gen and great looking car  cons- you dont own it yet
third string oil changer

bordin34

Cons: Its a 2nd gen and your 71 looks 301x better
Pros: Its still a charger and a really nice car if the guy described it right.

Spike

Pros, it's a 70
Cons- an group of ex convicts!  As for the car-None!

I had a '70 R/T. Drove better than any other charger I had at that time. Low miles was a plus also. If a person decides to clone it into a Daytona, front clip is already there. Can't think of anything bad about a '70 myself. Though I am biased towards 2nd gen's.

Hey, you can hate the game but don't hate the player.

If I get a chance to go and see this 70, what are some of the parts that are difficult to find, I need to make sure they are on the car?

is_it_EVER_done?

IMHO, the 68-69 Chargers will go down in history as the best looking cars ever built, period! However a 71-72 Charger is my second choice.

I personally would rather drive an E-body than a 70 Charger, and I REALLY dislike E-body's. Would I trade? Not a chance, as you only live once, so drive something cool.

Bashing aside, you obviously like 70's better or you wouldn't consider the trade, so forget my (and others) preferences and get the car you want.

The second you let potential value, desireability/saleability enter into your decision, you are guaranteeing that you will never be happy with your decision, no matter which way you go.

:iagree:  I have a 70.  I hated the bumper at first, but when i see some pics of really nicely done up chargers (Spikes) it grew on me...

The funny thing about the bumper to me is that I also own a 71GTX and it has a similar bumper to the 70 on the front of it.

If ya get that 70RT you will have the most awesome looking 2nd gen Charger that was produced.   :yesnod:
They are the most rare and came with the coolest options.  :icon_smile_big:
I would choose a 70 Charger over the 68-69 all day long and it sounds like you have found a great one!

The bad thing about the 70 is that everyone wants one and will try to get yours!  :punkrocka:
