THE CHARGER PUNK

Im gonan try and get this guy BronzeT5 told me about to sell me his 68 charger but if is impossible 2 do so i was thinkin a 79-81 trans-am, i Saw The Remake of The Hitcher last night and it was by far one of if not The Best Movie i have ever seen and has a pretty cool scene with a 79-81 black trans am with a light goldy/white interior and was in shock to see it hammering around in the movie(the 442 in movie is cool 2) and so i am wondering what do u guys think of the 79-81 trans ams? (not the 77 smokey n bandit years, i dont like those grilles) also this commercial that aired a few years ago really sold me on getting one of these cars if a charger isnt available-MATT

the 77-78 trans ams have the same style of grill.....the 79-81 have a different style of grill...These cars are nice, they sure do have some get up and go.  These cars though are starting to get pricey to.  Either way you are going to spend some dough.

I agree, but the good thing is you can order any part you need right from a catalog.

oh no you cant my friend. up to 74 yes. but anything after 74 the aftermarket sheet metal parts are hard to come by. They dont make alot of stuff. you have to modify parts from a camaro to fit.

i wouldnt mind painting one up like bandits car. id drive the hell out of that

I have a friend in Michigan that has a 79 black TA with I think about 30K on it.  Original paint and still looks sweet!  Probably sell it for 10 to 12K or trade for a cool mopar!   :yesnod:
Tomorrow is promised to NOBODY . . . .

I own a '77 Trans Am "Bandit" 400 4 speed and love it. I prefer the 77-78 grill over the later ones and don't really care for the earlier ones much either but that is just my opinion. These cars are rising in value also and it is hard to buy a nice documented 76-78 SE for less than 15K anymore.

The one's from 79-81 I would care to own would a be a 1979 400 4 speed 10th Anniversary model or a 1979 Bandit edition 400 4 speed. I would not buy a 301 or 403 Olds just because I don't really want one when the 400's are out there. I wouldn't mind a Indy Pace Car with a 301 Turbo but that is about it because the early Turbo's were troublesome and underpowered from what I have read.

YES 4-SPD!!!!!!!! I want the 10th anniversary edition :yesnod: ofcourse i could never afford one but if i can get that 68 im gonna get a 79 firebird and make a 10th anniversary replica  :yesnod:-MATT

I've always held a soft spot for the Firebirds and especially the late 70's models.  Parts availability should still be good even if the repro market hasn't caught up to those years yet.  They made enough of them the used market should be able to step in for you.

My buddy has an all original bandit II(paint included).  He's owned it for 16 years.
couple pics for ya.
Every time he tries to sell it I buy him a 12er and talk him out of it.  If I had enough to offer him, i would own it.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?
