I need to purchase a 383 Magnum - a fellow has one but isn't sure if it is a Mag or not.  I am not sure how to tell either.

Casting date is 12 8 67, Pad reads D 383 and 1 26

Any thoughts?

Why does it have to be a Magnum? All the parts that are different between the magnum and the lo-po 383 will need to be replaced in a rebuild anyway.

The only thing that matters is it's a good block to start with. The rest is just bolt on.
