why wont my AK-47 eject emty cases with the dust cover on

Why wont my AK-47 eject the emty case with the dust cover on,,, if i take it off it functions just fine   but with the cover on the emtys will get caught in the action about every 4 to 6 rounds    bolt   doesnt appear to be hitting the dust cover at all ive tried 2 diff covers

As far as I know (limited experience with AK's and SKS's) they seem to act up with that dust cover on. My buddy's SKS did the same thing with the dust cover on, every couple rounds it would jam so he just removed it. As simple as those guns are I wouldn't worry about it....

I think the word "scary" or "frightening" or even the phrase "oh sweet jesus" work better than the word "awesome" in this instance.

alot of experence with this weapon.

first do several dry function checks.
then use clp lube for guns for a very good cleaning
check the mag for worn out spring
check the breach for small crap in the bolt catch
try different ammon maybe a bad batch

if nothing else buy new bolt and carrier assembly

From what I've heard AK's have about the same grouping as a shotgun pattern.  And I don't mean that as a good thing.

My uncle's Chinese SKS has a very good grouping as long as you properly know how to fire it! Personally I prefer Armalite!

75% of American made loads that fit the Chinese SKS do jam and effect accuracy. Nothing against American made ammo since about 50% of what I use is made by them or reloaded by myself. If the gun was converted to fire a different sized ammo that can be another problem. The SKS that I have the video of came with 1000 rounds of chinese made ammunition and have yet to have the gun jam. The accuracy is a little better than a 30-30 but not as good as a larger rifle such as a 7mm or .308

You need a New Spring on the dust cover, and CLP the notch that holds it up...

alrighty ill give these a things a try and see what happens   its a new gun   reciever was built buy ITM arms in ohio and the rest is romanian  but was never fired i believe,,,, i tried a different bolt,  carrier, spring new piston  3 dust covers new trigger  nuthing works  also oiled it   i never shot 100 rounds through it yet im thinking the reciever is screwed up   i may have to send it back

From what I have read here, it sounds like there could be a clearance problem in the ejection port, try this, in a safe place, cycle out a mag. of ammo.  by hand operating the bolt and watch how it comes out.  It could be that you need to shave a little from dust cover where it comes down over the ejection port.  Hope you figure it out, they are good guns that are usually able to be stomped into the mud, and they will still function properly, although I don't recomend that!  Most of all remember be safe!!!

i second clearance problem...    AK-47s arent known for accurate stampings...    the lower reciever is stamped flat then bent...    alot of space between parts...    this allows sand and such to keep the AK from working...   little space to get stuck in...

well i figured it out as it was the dust cover it needed to be shaved a bit but fireslike a champ now the emtys were catching the cover before fully ejected,,,,,           thanks

I had a SKS for a while and finally stepped up to a AK. I would not go back AK has never failed or jammed. Now I also have a HK 308 and it is a tack driving mother bear. With only a twenty round clip I would take it over the AK and it's thirty round clip anyday. We were out to range last year and some guy was showing off with his Ruger 10-22 going thru 30 rounds as quick as he could. My sons and I loaded the Mini 14 and the AK and the HK and all cut loose at the same time. He threw up his hands and laughed " I give up you win".
