If you're going with a cam in the .500 lift range ; a simple bowl port/blend works very well. The MP porting templates are great for beginners and yield excellent results. Mopar Muscle ran a series of articles a few years back with various levels of porting and the resulting flow numbers for each incremental modification. Check the MM website....last time i looked, those articles were still there.

Like Ron said, MM has a good article on this, i tried useing the templates, but decided just to work the bowls without them, just plan on spending some time on them, don't get carried away, these are the times i ran with some 906s on my 451, for what they were, they definately got the job done.

ross FTs, 9.73 comp.
comp solid, 543/529 gross lift, 250/256 @ 50, 108 LSA
Bone stock 906s, 208/174 stainless valves, 90cc
750dp, M1 single, 4100 stall, 411s

Best run in good air, 10.95 @ 122.72, 11.08 @ 121 in the heat

Pulled the heads, did some bowl work, put a T/R with 2 600 holleys, in the heat off the trailer it went 10.87 @ 123.58 on a 1.61 60ft., carbs needed more tuning & 60ft. was horrible, in the good air, i'm sure it would have gone 125 MPH, these heads were still mild & home ported (my first attempt) so as you can see, you can still make good power with just alittle work & Small ValvesĀ  ;) IMO, these heads were stretch to there limit, I put the T/R on before the head work but only ran 1/8 mile a few times, it picked up some mph, but i noticed a nice gain with the head work also.
