I didn't want to reserect the old thread. I continued to change topics, so I'll start a new one.

As I stated before. I scored a compleate console <compleate for the most part> I cleaned it up. removed the rust from some of the crome pieces, stripped and repainted the top pieces, and removed the column shifter <will get the delete plate soon>

so here it is. Not bad for $100 :D :D :D

interior and assembled Pics.

I desided to paint the chrome strips Black, So it's not 100% original looking, but hell. I think it came out very nice :D

Looking great. :2thumbs: How many times have you reached up for the old shifter on the column so far :)

Shakey

Looks pretty good!  Good score and nice job refinishing it.

What paint did you use?

I got some plastic indoor / outdoor paint from a autobody store. can't remember the name off the top of my head. the flash on my camara makes it look shiny, but it's a semigloss. so it looks like the dashboard :D

Looks great! It looks like it's been there all along!

Hey, it's too bad these consoles are worth so much...this shot looks like it would make a good mailbox...with the top lid on, of course. :D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

With out having the carpet, paint the chrome was a good way to hide that fact. Other wise the chrome would high light there was something missing.

cool, did ya reinforce the thing?.

yes I did, while it was out. I put fiberglass / Cat Hair in all the week looking areas, custom make some solid brackets and used some thin wood to go floor to bottem.

I could get my wife in there and get lucky on that before worrying about damage now

   Looks good Jason.   :2thumbs:

I know Y1 and others sell a console carpet kit but it's kinda pricey for what ya get.     You can probably find a scrap somewhere or just a hunk of bulk and cut out some pieces to fit since it's just black anyway.    Fold over the edges and glue the down.

Now I just gotta see if I can get out of work long enuf to go up and find ya next Friday and if I can afford the gas  ;)

I gotta get my butt to your house to get those parts anyways. Got i can't get any time for anything. Maybe i'll try to get up this weekend if you're free?

I was thinking about some carpet fragments. I like the clean look though. with the black trim and the semigloss. I think it looks hot :D
