It really is tragic in that as an engineer he is/was quite the stellar performer. As a interim CEO trying to gauge the North American psyche - not so much. And the whole fiasco of trying to put a human face on a Germany based company with the down home question and answer - well he came off looking like a fool at best.
The school of hard knocks always has he best diplomas but I wonder if Daimler really learned anything from this campaign?

I doubt if they learned anything. I didn't know he was an engineer but it explains things to a degree. For what it's worth, I always thought the German people did look down on Americans as far as what a good car was/is.
