I'm gonna add another item to this, my 67 style steering wheel:

A friend of mine has that steering wheel on his early 68, it came on his car stock, it is possible,
even though some people say no because its not in the option photo's.

Here are the headlamp bezels of which '69's or '70's don't have........

Not ALL 69's dont have these O0

Chris, what kind of hood bumper is that on the end of your front fender?
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

This clears up this question for me, too.  I've had a handful of people swear that my wheel is a "replacement" because it wasn't available in a '68.  But I'm confident it's the original.

(As stated earlier, mine is a Sept 68 build.)

Great thread.

But I had a question that I have yet to recieve a consensus on.  Door handles.  My '68 (SPD 9/18/68) has a chrome button.  My brother's '69 (SPD 12/4/68) has the black button.  I have been told that it should be the opposite.  I've seen '68s with both and seen '69s with both.  I did a search and couldn't find a definative answer?

Well, for one thing, with that S.P.D., your '68 is in fact a '69. My '69's SPD was 8-5?-68. Which by all rights makes your doorhandle buttons correct. :icon_smile_big:
As for your brother's car, the interior doorlocks aren't by any chance way at the back of the doors are they? My guess is, either the doorhandles or the entire doors have been swapped out.

Whoops! :smilielol:  That's what happens when my fingers type faster than my brain can work.  I MEANT to say 9/18/67...of course... :D

With regards to my brother's doorlocks...that's a good question.  I'll have to check.  I know his car has been repainted at least once, so my theory was that was when they were replaced.  Who knows?

Mine is an early 68 as well (Sept 28, 67) and has those same chrome 67 seatbelts shown above in the back but the front seat belts are long gone.  So do I find a pair of 67 belts for the front or a pair of 68 belts??  What I mean is did they mix and match seatbelts on the early 68's??

Yes. If/when 8WHEELER chimes in here again he'll tell you about a stock '68 that had chrome buckles in the back and colored buckles in the front. Or vise-versa.

Dans 68

O.K., we really need to get a '68 registry going, if only to document the idiosyncrasities on the '68's. I'm willing to help in anyway possible. Troy...?   :scratchchin:

I am back good/bad who knows...........  It is very common for early 68's to have color matched front seat belts and
chrome rear buckles. My Wife's December car has chrome rear buckles stock, now of coarse this is not true to every
early car, but my September car has them as well.

Thanks guys! When PG Classic is ready to ship them, I'm going to get a set of coloured front seat belts then.

my buddy has an early 68 Plymouth Satellite that has the same steering wheel, just with a Plymouth emblem in it, his trunk lid is not solid either like later 68's.  also, I took my windshield out because I needed to replace some broken trim clips and ordered some from Mopars by Crane, they weren't right so I called him, he told me my car wasn't a Charger!! I told him I've had this car since 1987, I think I know what it is  :flame:   anyway, come to find out it has 67 window clips:

My 68 has the 67 style along the bottom of the windshield and the 68 style around the rest of the windshield. I also have these taillight brackets. Are they early production items?

Funny thing, my deck lid has the closed ribs.

How about 67 wheelcovers on a St Louis car.
Mine had those exact wheel covers.

What would the code on the build sheet be for these wheel covers?

Yuppers pulled the rearend apart, and went through it. Its was a 2.76 gear ratio. Have went through it, and am about to pull my rear end out of my 500 and put he 2.76 into it. Then we should be cruising with ease.
