440 question

If I get a 440Ci engine to put in my 74 Charger SE will I have to do any cutting to the hood before I put it in and restore it because the hood is flat and got no vents

That depends on the intake manifold you plan on running. The 440 with a stock intake manifold will clear fine. The lower profile dual/single plane intakes will also fit.

Except for "rammed" hoods what are bulged, rest of bulged hoods are just ornament and they are same shape and size that rammed ones, so  bulged hood Charger doesn't mean a BB/RB car to fit better the engine, even is very tipical find BB/RB Chargers with bulged hoods.

Beside that, SEs had 440 as option, and ALL SEs are flat hoods.

Of course you get smaller room to fit a BB/RB engine with a flat hood, but as stated, you won't really get a problem on the 440 engine fit. Even will take a 440 with HiPo manifold. Not all of them, but several. Mostly, HiPo streets manifolds and probably also some racing ones. If that's the case, you can play anyway with lower air purificators too if you want to be sure.

i have a 440 in mine, hood clerance is no issue,just have the right breather,may have to swap to a low rise or drop base air cleanner to run a taller intake

you can even get a eddy rpm manifold and it will fit under there, you will just need a drop down air cleaner housing.
