What does "frakin" mean?

You don't understand it because you don't watch Battlestar Gallactica. But on tv, that word is used in place of "F***". Apparently, that word is ok to use on tv.

Did you read the story about it to the right of the video screen?

That is just stupid insane crazy. But I bet it was fun ^-^  The driver had to know Paris like the back of his hand because that one street he couldn't go down. I heard 2 missed gears in that.

I watched that video on the TLC channel, he wasn't driving a Ferrari, it was a BMW although I couldn't remember exactlly what type. Also he got into a lot of serious trouble for that movie when it was aired!

that was pretty cool a dawn tour of paris... camara must be at axle level... woke some folks and pidgons up...
looks like he came pretty close to nailing some pedestrians near the middle of the video and came within a couple feet of T- boning the little yellow fiat... not sure i would try it...
The Chargers too wide for that town I can see a Ferrari Dino there though...

If you guy click the link to the right of the video screen, it says the Filmer got in a lot of trouble, but he has never revealed the identity of the F1 driver who did the driving.

I'll try and find the pics of the camera setup they had on the front of the BMW! The camera was pretty much sitting in the middle of the grille!

EDIT: Recent claims made by the director himself, however, suggest he drove his own Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 in the film and dubbed the sound effects of a Ferrari 275GTB. Several independent groups have verified that the car in the film never reaches past 140 km/h (85mph)

QuoteClaude Lelouch confirmed on his official website in March 2006 that he was driving, and it was a 6.9 litre Mercedes.

Quoten an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris. The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine, through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.

No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.

The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets.

Upon showing the film in public for the first time, Lelouch was arrested. He has never revealed the identity of the driver, and the film went underground until a DVD release a few years ago.

It was also said that the Ticket Claude recieved was torn up years later by the Paris Mayor....

Good ol' Rendezvous. ;)

Yeah, that movie is the stuff of legend.  There has always been a series of urban legends surrounding that film - which I think is intentional.  It adds to the mystique.   I've heard it was a Ferrari, a Mercedes, a BMV, and even a GT40.  I even read somewhere that it was a motorcycle (but the camera doesn't tilt or lean? :rotz:).  I even read once that the director had "spotters" with radios stationed on every corner to make sure the coast was clear.

Either way, I enjoy it for what it is.  Real?  Fake?  Doesn't matter.  It's still good stuff. :yesnod:

I wonder if red lights in Paris mean the same thing as red lights here? He blew through at least a half dozen of them. My adrenalin is pumping! Reminiscent of my younger days coming out of Chicago on the Ryan at midnight. In a Mopar!

That was the dumbest, most irresponsible stunt I've seen in a long time.  I'd expect that type of idiot behavior from some dumbass ricer trying to prove something...
