It's gonna get worse before it gets better. It's not the people who sought shelter in the Super Dome that are causing problems. It's the thugs who stayed in the city and looted everything. Pretty sad. I feel for the police officers. They have a rough job right now.

Charger_Fan

One of the news programs I was watching last night said "an event like this will bring out the best in people...and it also brings out the worst in people".

There's the worst in people. Some people just suck, it's sad.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

PocketThunder

i feel bad for the little kids that cant get out of there and cant get any supplies brought in because these gang member thugs are shooting at the supply choppers!!

Id declare martial law and give the order to shoot to kill any of those bastards shooting at the choppers and the snipers shoting at vehicles leaving the dome.
Mean people just plain suck!

AKcharger

If I was there I would use very liberal rules of engagement to target looters

The response (or lack there of) to the all the 'gang violence' has been a national disgrace. :rotz:   Send in the marines to wipe them out!.............or are they all over seas protecting someone else's property and families?

It's funny that everyone jumps the gun (no pun) when the news mentions gangs and shootings. Helpless people are dying on the streets because for whatever reason, it's taking forever to get them out.

Before some of you rip them for living off the government,... walk in their shoes for a day, or for that matter, blame the government for allowing people to use what they offer. Do you think some 10yr old is thinking about how he can get rich off of this? I think people should have left, but if you don't have alot of money and nowhere to go, you might stay as well. Think about it for a few seconds.

I think the newly appointed FEMA director will soon be out of a job with his attitude. :Twocents:

I was not rippin the people stuck there, but the lack of help offered to get them out quickly. Yeah, it's taking forever to get them out because they are being shot at by the thugs that roam the city. Here it is almost four days after the storm and there is no sign of anyone taking control of the situation..................except the murdering/raping/looting gangs.

BBD, I didn't mean you in general (sorry). I just think this sniper thing is blown out of proportion. The storm was a guarantee at least 3 days before it hit. Why so many are just getting started in helping, is mind blowing.

I am 15mins away from the former WTC, and it was far less than 24hrs before things were happening.

I think the police and firefighters are doing their best to help out. I saw firefighters on the news yesterday busting their butts to put out a fire in a building that will most likely be torn down.

90,000 square miles of devastation and hundreds of thousands of refugees. There is no way in the world that anybody could have planned for this, nobody is to blame. This is the single worst event to happen in this country in my lifetime of 45 years. Have just a little bit of compassion.  :icon_smile_dissapprove:

As for the supply chopper problem, send an Apache gunship or 2 to escort.  Give the pilot and gunner orders to target and take out anyone that so much as shoots a BB gun at a chopper.  There will be very few, if any, repeat instances of someone taking shots at the supply copters, I can pretty much garruntee it.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

Talk about kicking somebody (towns and cities in this case) while they are down! What is going on down there is absolutely despicable...sometimes what society does to itself is just plain unbelievable. My wife and I have vacationed in N.O. many times and we have a very close friend who lives close to there (even further out in the gulf!) and we hate seeing what is going on. We haven't been in contact with our friend since the hurricane so we don't know if he and his family are ok or even alive...and now we have to worry about what little they may or may not have being stolen, them being shot, or whatnot...this is just unbelievable. Interviews with people who are afraid to stay in the shelters because they may be beat up for their 1 shopping cart that is half-way filled with their last possessions in the world is hard for me to understand. I know there are many (the majority I hope) people who want to help and do good, but this doesn't say much for our level of humanity.  :-[

I just hope to hell that when order is restored, the lowlife perpetrators doing all these unbelievable things will be locked away in a cold, dark, damp, corner for a looooong time. :flame:

This kind of thing makes me ebmarrassed to be a human.
