How about that, a 318 charger w/a trophy and old school BFG tires. The tread pattern is at least 14 years old or more. My charger is a R6 w/black int. and top also, but its gonna be a clone. Charger looks awesome!

I've owned a lot of chargers and that's the first time that I've ever seen a red charger with a red interior and it looks fantastic. Lets see more pics of that beauty.

It's not too often that a 318 car gets restored that nicely & retains it's original drivetrain. Well done!

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Hi guys thanks for all of the looks at my car. One thing I would like to clear up though is that my car is not restored it is all original ;D. I'm the third owner and have traced the car back to the first owner who I think might have died. The two previous owners had the Charger for about 15 years apiece.

Thanks for all of the looks. I think that Im going to try and register the car this weekend so that I can add it the list..

I also have the build sheet too.

That is a VERY sharp 69, I know a guy taht has a 69 R4 red with a red interior and a white top. 383 auto console, A/C and all. The car is about finished, I will have to get some pictures and post em.

The guy is the original owner, the car was hit on the right side behind the door and sat for about 20 years before he put the car in his shop and got started on it.

I know, that is unbelievable!! :o :o
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

1969R6RED

WOW I was sure surprised to get all of the positive feed back on my car. THANKS.. I have a lot of people try and get me to pull the 318 out and put my 440 in. But the car is so original I don't want to do anything to it but drive it. I even have a hard time deciding to put duel exhaust on it.. I'm pretty sure that the muffler and tail pipe have only been replaced once.

Charger-Bodie

thats a sweet car you have they are only original once take care of that time machine you are lucky to get the op. to take care of it atleast for the next 15 years?

Hi REAR tire size ar 295-50-15's And they fit pretty well..

That's what I figured. Any rubbing? We have debates around here on occasion as to whether 295s rub on the outer wheel well hump with a little weight in the back. Some say they do, some say they don't. Either way I'll probably end up with 295s on the back of mine when I get done because they look so cool! Hey, most women will tell you they wear uncomfortable shoes because they look good. Why should the shoes on a Charger be any different? Like Billy Crystal says, "It's better to look good than to feel good."

By the way, what size are the fronts? I figured out a good front BFG tire size that almost exactly matches the diameter of the 295/50-15 but I can't remember it right now. I think it might be 245/60-15 but I'll have to dig up the chart to be sure.

1969R6RED

Hi BULL, The wheel size in the rear is 15*9.5 with those 295-50-15. With the kids in the back of the car the tire will slightly rub the divers side wheel well lip in some dips. But other than that they are fine. The wheel size up front is 15*7 with 235-60-15. They are the same diameter as the 295's.

Thanks JIM

DodgeChargerNeeded

I have 295/50s on the rear of my car also with no rubbing issues and I have had people ride in the back seat. Also my car isn't R6 Red. The previous owner painted it Viper Red but I would say it was close. It also has a 318 in it.

wow! nice car. i dig the red interior. Rene

You guys must have a different offset because Jim's rear tires are closer to the outer edge of the wheel well. Do you guys know your offset?

I too would like to state for the record I think those Chargers are bitchen!  :yesnod:

1969R6RED

I'm not sure what the rear off set is. But I sure do get a lot of complemnts on the wheels Thay are Cragar Mach 8. I have only see another set on a third gen. Charger on e-bay a few years back.  And thanks for all the COMPLEMENTS.
I hjave single exhaust on the car what do you guys think about changing it over to duels??? Please comment I would like to all of your opinions

JIM

Charger-Bodie

i would put duals on it but only if its good exhaust like tti or custom pipes done equally well ....alot of custom  shops do crude work ecspecially when it comes to the hangersor you could leave it the way it is and in the words of my dad "be seen and not heard"

Well is the current exhaust rotted out or going bad or do you just want the better flow and sound of a dual exhaust. If the single exhaust is still good I would leave it for now until it really needs it.
Jeff

1969R6RED

Well the reason that I ask is that my car is so original. I don't want to take anything from that. But I wonder if I do put duel exhaust on it from say TTI. with the right tips and hangers so that it alll  looks factory .Will it be the wrong thing to do????? :-\ :-\

I don't think it would be wrong to do. The only reason it may be wrong woulf be if you were trying to have it judged at car shows as "factory original"...otherwise, it's your car & you should be able to play with it a little. :) IMO, swapping bolt on stuff like that is no biggie.
My 318 car had headers & Thrush's on it when I got it, there's no way I'd personally go back to a single exhaust. If you put on a TTI system, the sound would have people constantly shocked when you tell 'em "it's only a 318 :icon_smile_approve: ". It happened to me all the time.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I have dual flowmasters on mine and I would say it sounds very nice.

if you put on tti the only thing non reversable would be the 4 holes you need to drill for the factory style lt muff hanger bracket ...........and i dont think that would bother me much

Very nice looking Charger! Amazing condition for all-original! Mine is also R6 Red and it is an awesome color.
I would leave it alone until you had to replace something. As someone has already said....it is only original once!

1969R6RED

Thanks I like R6 Red too.. ;D I is only original once. :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: But the muffler hanger is getting a bit weak. :-[
