well, i read the first post, and it sounds to me like the owner of the car is trying to blow smoke up his skirt. claims the fenders are factory, and trying to get more bucks out of it. well they are factory, just probably out of a different factory.
third string oil changer

terrible one

Either way, some pictures would be nice. How's the condition?

Chris' '69 Charger R/T

mikepmcs

I knew that one was coming from Chris :icon_smile_big:

Either way, I would be interested to see pictures of this charger that T5 and his Pop found and just get some info on it.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

TylerCharger69

It seems to me...for the '69 year cars, that any '68 parts left over would go onto the NOS shelf??   I can see using engine parts from a '68 model year that are leftovers, and even that seems like a crap shoot...but not body parts.  The fenders bolt up the same, but there would have to be a different wiring harness to illuminate the side marker lights,  and I can't see that happening from the factory either.   I'm going to have to rate this as a "9" on a scale of 1 to 10 on the BS meter.

TylerCharger69

Let me add something also.   There is a good possibility that this guy told 69BronzeT5 the BS story.  Meaning....the car was probably wrecked, and '68 fenders were the only fast available replacements.  Not trying to give any benefit of any doubts,   but....if pics are posted promptly,  then it's worth looking into further.    Until then..... :icon_bs: :icon_bs: :icon_bs:

the fenders do not bolt up the same they are close and can be made to work but not without mods

Well...please explain how I have a TEMPORARY '68 fender that I had no trouble whatsoever bolting onto the car.....I say temporary because it was all that was  available at the time, and I'm not putting on this '69 Fender until we re-shoot the car.   Now.......A '70 and '69 are not compatible........but the 68 and '69 is....I know from experience with my own Charger.....Not do dig up a rotting corpse of a horse,.....but why do you think so many General Lee fenders during filming were '68 fenders?   And they used '70's  but they had to put either a '68 or '69 entire front clip on them.  The only differences are either the rectangular side reflectors ('69)....or the Smaller, round side marker lights ('68)  which were actually mounted considerably higher.

70charger_boy

Did anyone ever think that this charger this kid is talking about was maybe a smashed up general lee that was repaired?

(please don't take me seriously I don't want Bull to rip me a new one)

TylerCharger69

well....i have to admit...that that is another good synopsis.....I never thought of that.

they are differant that the 68 has the plate that holds the hood adjuster on the fender and the 68 has that as part of the radiator supt and attaches to the apron

Sounds completely legit to me...they even made a Daytona that way.
Here it is, completely factory original, right down to the original paint! :D

WTF?

This is a joke also like most of this post.....right?
Nope.
It was bought by a guy Hemigeno knows, last year sometime from the original owner, if I recall.
Here's a couple more that Geno took, notice the '68 markers in the Daytona stripe...

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

TylerCharger69

Oh....that.....well that doesn't make a difference on the fender bolting up...which is the issue we are talking about....You're talking about that tray where the round hood bumper sits   and that piece...with or without it doesn't make a difference on how the fender itself bolts up.  It bolts to the inner skin in the same fashion, it bolts to the valance and the grille in the same fashion,  It bolts to the hood latch support and the headlamp vacuum pods  bolt on in the same fashion. The fender itself is the same.  You are speaking of a superficial little difference.   It has no bearing on the way the fender bolts to the car.

how does that not make a difference on how they bolt on when that part is welded to a 69 fender and BOLTS to the radiator supt  :icon_smile_angry: man you cant stand to be wrong can you ? when a part bolts to a car it then has some bearing on how it bolts to the car period ......so does this meen that you have no hood adjuster on the left fender of youre GL? or did you break the weld and put that piece on the 68 fender? because thats all you need to do and then fill the round hole and weld in a marker opening from any junk 69 b body panel

Here is a picture to show you that I bolted this fender on without modifying.   Yes...the bumper tray is missing  (driver side '68 fender) but it had no affect whatsoever in me being able to bolt it up....So  the actual argument...in which you started,  was that it had to be modified in order to bolt up, which  as I have provided a pic for you (which everybody should be prepared to do in this forum)  shows that I had to do none.  I just simply moved the hood bumper adjustment forward to the main tray to be able to adjust the hood height.   Sure...there are the two mounting holes on the radiator support exposed for the '69...but once again...it had no bearing on me installing it, and it is still bolted on solid.   So there you have it.   I'm not the one who is wrong...you are  as the pic I've provided proves.   Now...go start an argument with someone else.

Is that a catch can in front of the radiator on the pic provided?

the post was about the factory to have put 68 fenders on a 69 ..i ask you this do yo think they moved a bunch of crap to make them work.........and as of now i wash my hands of this i will do my cars right and you can move crap around and think its right all you want and run with parts missing [vaccum canister] i guess i concede you are right the 68 fender mounts to a 69 no mods what soever period  :blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah:

Okay, so I found a 69 RT in this guys yard by my house. Its originally hemi orange with black interior. The car has 69 tailights, 69 grille, 69 quarters but 68 fenders. The owner says that the car came original with 68 fenders because they put 68 fenders on early 69s to get rid of the extra 68 parts. Do u guys know if this is true?

-Cody-

he's full of shit. Just like the guy that was passing by and told me how he used to own a Charger like mine with a 446 6 pack Hemi

I get quite a few of those.....or better yet just the 440 Hemi

Best one I've heard was an auto mechanic talking about the 383 "baby HEMI".
