I thought that at first too, but wouldn't all the colors have changed? That Holiday Inn sign behind it and everything else looks normal. ???

No, it's a different color scheme.  I've never seen that 3D effect on the lettering on the 69 car before either.  For that matter, if you look at the magazine scans of the 68 in this thread, you'll see that one has DODGE in a 3D style and the other is a straight on look at the letters.
All of the pics I have close at hand here show the 69 with the straight on style of letters.

Dandys colors during 1968-1970 were the silver and red. One of the 1970 Challengers wore the black/white/orange sway pattern that would resurface in later years. The 1971 Challenger wore the typical silver red pattern. The old altered wheelbase was siler with black and the 1967 R/T was blue with white roof.
The yellow is depigmentation of the red.

You might be interested to hear that I modeled my '69 after Landys' car...   :yesnod:

THE CHARGER PUNK

strato didnt ur car have big r/t emblems on the quarters ? and in the grill? how come its  a base now
? and landys car was silver not black or purple liek your car so how do you mean u modeled it after his car?

Ghoste

He must have changed the 69 around a little bit at least once, or he used more than one car maybe.  There are pics of that 69 with and without that 3D lettering.

Rolling_Thunder

I'm pretty sure he used more than one 69 Charger....    I have seen pictured with two different style hood scoops and side lettering

F8:

that was my car fresh out the paint booth in '99 prior to instastalling the trim incl. front bumper, and i was thinking i wanted my car as close to landys' as i could legal get away with... of course with a 440...  ;)
So maybe not that HEMI or the paint of course,.. but the "attitude"..  :apimp:

heres one  ---  his 68 i think ?  The 1968 was a a heater delete car - it was not a R/T - the 1969 was

I'd be willing to bet a couple cases of Coors that the car pictured above isn't a Landy car.  That looks like a clone somebody made, the font is all wrong on the quarters, his name isn't on the door, and that isn't where the Cragar sticker is supposed to go either.

Edit: other dead giveaway is the hood and trunk hinges.  Landy's '68 had both a pin-on decklid and hood.  No wipers, either.

I've researched this a whole bunch, IIRC his '68 car is still around and was featured in several books in the past decade or so.  Not sure who claims ownership though.

There are several of his '68 Darts in existance, I saw one at the Detroit Autorama.  A famous collector in MN owns one, too.

ok u can see here him standing beside a 68 charger r/t but in all the pics of his 68 car they are of a base car, anyone know what happend 2 the base car with the 66 hemi hood scoop??? (as you can see the r/t has a flat hood, the r/t car might be the one found in that indian reserve)

A few shots of the base 68.

Hmmm, I just noticed that both the ERTL 1:24 and the Revell plastic kit models of Landy's 68 are an RT... with a hood scoop.

Check out the vinyl roof.I`ll bet they used cars from a dealer stock, then worked them to their own needs.
