Thanks for the insight Mojo, you rock :)

I do hope his brother (or that's who he calls him anyhow) is Mexican.  That guy is great and is a whole lot funnier then Mencia.

Is speedy Gonzales really the patron saint of Mexico?

Mexico does not have a Patron Saint per se, but the staunchly Catholic country does see the Virgin of Guadalupe as their national symbol and advocate before God.

A curious note on Speedy Gonzalez - even tho the PC nuts have gotten their way and is no longer shown on U.S. networks because of it's "stereotypical" portrayal, Speedy G. is one of the most beloved cartoon characters in Mexico and the rest of Latin America. Go figure.

Quoteso why do Mexicans take a 4 hour siesta in the middle of the day? is because they are lazy? or are they really smarter than everyone else and figured out how to get a nap in the middle of the day and make it part of their culture and have no one question it for fear of sounding politically incorrect?

Must be a cultural thing. I remember when I lived there or went there on vacation, you could not get anything done between 2 pm and 4pm. All bussinesses close so the employees can go home and eat lunch or take a nap. Then they open from 4 to 7 or 8

I was told that the "siesta" was taken because the mid-day heat and sun was just too brutal for anyone in their right mind to function. Makes sense to me especially since Ive spent a great deal of time roofing in my career.  Many cultures have noted that "only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid-day sun" after observing the suffering of English soldiers on duty at noon in equatorial climates.

I want to know what the deal is with spitting on the sidewalks. The local 7-11 has become a pick up point for day laborers and I am apalled by the spitting, the spit all over, blatently ....... whats up with that?

Is it true that many illegal Mexican immigrants are criminals?

Yeah, but so are many Americans. The numbers are proportionate

What I meant was, are a good share of the ones coming to the US from Mexico considered criminals in their homeland before they get here. In other words, did they break the law in Mexico and then run to the US to escape the law?

I'm sure, but I doubt there is a great number (at least vs. the amount that arent).

Probably Mexican, but the country lacks the capital to produce anything in the same massive numbers and as cheap as the Chinese (and Mexican workers, while still paid well below U.S. wages, still get paid a lot more than the Chinese).

A paper mill, a pepper mill, or a saw mill?

I'd think a pepper mill would be best, they like spicy food & don't have any trees down there, it's all rocks & sand.  :D

When traveling in Mexico and pulled over by a cop, is it true that one can simply buy his way out of a ticket by bribing the cop on the roadside?

Aside from resorts like Cancun, etc., is Mexican water really as nasty as they say it is?  Does it, in fact, induce the trots?

Do MUSes or MAs like Chivas USA?  What about MMs?

I don't know about now, but it used to be that way. I once got pulled over when I was 14, driving without a license alone in an unregistered brand-new car, and they let me go for roughly $4.

QuoteAside from resorts like Cancun, etc., is Mexican water really as nasty as they say it is?  Does it, in fact, induce the trots?

Depends on who you ask. I never had any problems with it. I'm sure some people do get sick, but more than likely have a propensity to get sick anytime they eat/drink something theyre not used to anyway - foreign or otherwise.

QuoteDo MUSes or MAs like Chivas USA?  What about MMs?

MUSes and MMs tend to like Chivas USA, because theyre the American affiliate of Mexico's Chivas De Guadalajara team, which is arguably the country's most beloved team. Some MA's like them too, but most aren't really into soccer that much and follow American sports instead. I'm one of the few MA's who do at least occasionally follow Mexican soccer, but I root for Mexico's other big team and Chivas' fierce rival, Club America. Think of Chivas and America as Mexico's Yankees and Red Sox.

Why do many Mexican Professional Wrestlers wear colorful Face Masks & Capes?

Is Ricardo Montobain really mui macho? And where does Corithan leather come from?

What the hell is that stuff in Menuto soup?  :shruggy:

How come in Mariachi bands, the biggist guy always plays the smallest guitar, while the little hombre is playing the biggest one?

Is it true that Mexicans can breath in both air AND water like an amphibian? Someone said they have gills and can stay submerged in rivers and lakes for hours at a time...what about salt water?

Definitely Ricardo Montalban...Apparently, the only person who's ass Ricardo Montalban CAN'T kick is William Shatner's....and willie had the whole crew of the Enterprise to help him.

Because there really aren't soap-style storylines in Mexican wrestling, so the masks and capes fill in that 'flamboyant' aspect of it. The wrestling itself is more athletic and acrobatic than WWE-type stuff

QuoteIs Ricardo Montobain really mui macho? And where does Corithan leather come from?

Very macho. I'd think Corinthian leather comes from Corinthia...wherever that is.

QuoteWhat the hell is that stuff in Menuto soup?  :shruggy:

It's menudo, like the boy band. You don't really wanna know what's in it...but in case you do, it's cow stomach lining. Nasty stuff...I don't like it myself. My people eat some weird stuff (cow tongue, brains, deep fried intestines, etc). Yuck.

QuoteHow come in Mariachi bands, the biggist guy always plays the smallest guitar, while the little hombre is playing the biggest one?

That's a very profound question that requires a profound philosophical answer. Due to time and space restrictions, it is not feasible for me to go into it.

Mexican Earthquake

A big earthquake with the strength of 8.1 on the Richter scale has hit Mexico.

Two million Mexicans have died and over a million are injured. The country is totally ruined and the government doesn't know where to start with asking for help to rebuild.

The rest of the world is in shock.

Canada is sending troopers to help the Mexican army control the riots.

Saudi Arabia is sending oil.

Other Latin American countries are sending supplies.

The European community (except France) is sending food and money.

The United States, not to be outdone, is sending two million replacement Mexicans.
