QuoteMy EV2 70 I sold last year.  I have a surprise for everyone in the new year
(from the orange car thread)
Here is a link to a few pictures of my new 69 RT SE that I just picked up in San Luis Obispo, Calif last week.  http://www.telusplanet.net/public/rcolgan/pakrat/69charger/
It took a friend and me 80 hours of driving from Edmonton AB and 4500 miles later.  What a road trip!  If you see this post Matt, thanks for the deal.  There's a little work to do to it but in generally in nice condition.  It's an original T5 copper/bronze air conditioned RT SE car.

I found it on craigslist.  I used the "www.crazedlist.org" web site search.  He had it on ebay for a while but only had one bid from someone and it never reached reserve.  After I seen it on craigslist, we emailed back and forth until we struck a deal.  The rest is history.

I plan on repainting it back to T5 bronze and updating the older technology to modern stuff.  Brakes etc...

The key to minimal hassles at the border is to have your paperwork in order.
For US Customs you require a copy of the clear title faxed to them a minimum of 72 hours before you cross with the car.  (don't even think about trying to export a vehicle out of the USA if it doesn't have a title) You also need a form that is available on their website filled out and sent to them 72 hours before crossing.  This form will have info about the seller and the buyer.  A bill of sale is also required for US Customs.
Canada Customs wants the goods and services tax (6% on the converted to CAD amount).  They require a copy of the bill of sale proving how much you paid for the car, any supporting documentation like emails between the buyer and the seller discussing how much the car sold for, etc..  It also helps to show them the title.  Canada Customs will fill out a form for you to take to show Provincial Registries (Alberta in my case) for when you register the car.

This whole process took only 1/2 hour.  You also have a choice to hire a broker for about $100.  Why hire a broker if you can do it yourself?

QuoteAre you going back to T5?
Yes, probably.  I'll probably go back to the vinyl roof it originally had.

Thanks for the comments guys.
