That was classic. The brother-in-law in the post looks just like one of my brothers-in-law. Only he would have called the Orkin Man..

I would have too seeing as though I cannot run... :icon_smile_blackeye:

As a beekeeper, I hate to see the swarm destroyed. The hive had produced a new queen and the old queen and half the hive was leaving to go find a new home.  As soon as the scouts return with info of where the home would be, they would have all left with the Queen. Most folks have no idea of how important bees are in our food supply chain. The cross pollination work they do is irreplaceable and guarantees more yield per acre. With all the pesticides, mites and infestations of the African killer bees, our country has lost a lot of its hives............sorry, did not mean to ramble.............J

true, but being that I am extremely allergic to those suckers... I would have done the same thing.  Rather have 10,000 bees dead than me or my daughter hospitalized.

do you think the bees would pay my copay? :D

You are absolutely correct -- what a terrible waste of life.  Here we just do a craigslist posting and a beekeeper comes over and removes the swarm, no big deal.  But you must have forgotten that mopar people, by in large, are macho dudes who enjoy hurting small things.  Hooray, killed some bees.  And for people allergic, I think one is much more vulnerable doing what was done than just leaving the critters alone.  I only got stung three times in my life, once when I hit one on my motorcycle and it got stuck in between my helmet and face, once when I stepped on one on a lawn, and once when I was piling fresh cut lawn into a pile.  Each time the sting did was it was supposed to do, made me more careful.  Kim

And for what its worth, the two yahoo's who almost burned down their kids swingset were on a HONDA board..........not Mopar guys.  :icon_smile_wink:

how true!  :iagree:

i admit i am pretty liberal, but you all sound like a bunch of tree huggin hippies to me :D

again, if I ever come across such a situation, if you guys OR the bee's for that matter want to pay my emergency room bill, then by all means I will let them stay where they are, but if you do not, then they will die like the stinging lil beotches they are!  Call me a hater... that is perfectly fine :D

At my old house we had a hive living in a wooden pillar on our Deck, I left them alone, they left me alone. Life was good.

One day my 3 year old daughter way playing outside and her Ball hit that pillar. She got stung in the face 3 times  :icon_smile_angry:

On one hand I fault myself. Maybe I should have had them removed, but they never bothered us before. So I didn't. This time I called an exterminator, and THEY took care of it, cost me a whole $150. Not a big deal.

Personally. I would have never messed with them. I'm not allergic, but god damn, that many bees would hurt.

BTW: My daughter was fine, she was a little sore, but the bees just made their point and left her alone after.

That's a funny set of events, I bet that guy burns his house down one day.
I agree they should have tried a bit harder to have them removed, but with little kids in the vicinity, I don't really blame them for killing them. Now they need to get the rest out of the house nicely. :yesnod:

I've found that my immunity level to bee stings (actually, wasps lately) drops each time I'm stung. Last summer, I reached into a blind crevice & disurbed a wasp nest. I was stung twice on the hand...not big geal, evidence of the stings went away after a couple weeks.
About a month later, I stumbled upon another nest & was stung once on the same hand. That time, my hand & forearm swelled up to damned near double it's normal size...and stayed that way for three days! :o Finally, I decided it wasn't going away by itself & did some Googling.
I found that some folks had good luck with Benadryl allergy medicine, so I bought a pack. With the first dose, my hand & arm started deflating practically before my eyes! A couple days & doses later, everything was good as new.

That second nest of wasps I killed, because I needed to work in that area. There are still two other nests out there I'm aware of, but they're not in an area I stick my hands in, so I'll leave them alone. I don't mind the critters, besides, I like to see the cool nests they build.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

If that isn't a tribute to white trash, I don't know what is.

I did a similar thing once, I had a huge wasps nest on one of my tree limbs.  I carefully cut the branch off and laid it in the street. then doused it with gas and let her rip.

admittedly, I worked outside for 15 years and got stung by bees and wasps so many times and I hate them so much...
